Making sense of difficult material not only makes for a challenge but also a sense of accomplishment. I take the approach that most material that is perceived as difficult is only viewed that way due to the way the material is presented. I tend to break concepts down using common language and parallel those concepts with information that is already well understood. Most importantly, I feel that the information is interesting and engaging and I try to present it in exactly that manner.I have a broad range of educational experience as I started my college life attending art school to pursue a degree in traditional animation for making films. Although I did not finish my degree in animation, I did acquire some unique skills and experiences in the realm of fine art and drawing.I started pursuing subjects that interested me and was specifically pulled toward the sciences. I was lucky to have had several exceptional teachers and their guidance inspired me to obtain a degree in Chemistry. It was during this path to obtain my Bachelor's degree that I was introduced to my favorite subject, Organic Chemistry. The instructor that I had for Organic Chemistry was amazing and made the class not only amusing and interesting but also fun. The experience of understanding Organic Chemistry inspired me to pursue a Master's degree specifically in this subject. While in graduate school, I was a teaching assistant and this was very rewarding for me as I had the opportunity to share the knowledge that I had gained over my college years and pass that information on to students that were currently taking the class. It was this experience that caused me to realize that I really had a passion for teaching. To see how grateful students were to have me help them understand Chemistry was more fulfilling that any other employment experience that I have ever had.I am currently an instructor of Organic Chemistry at a local community college and I am looking forward to what the future holds in store.

I am a California native who resides in Chicago. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Cognitive Science and chose to minor in Education because I wanted to be better equipped for my roles as a mentor and tutor. During college I provided homework help and college preparation for high school students in Oakland and I worked as a literacy tutor for elementary aged children. Since graduation, I gained three years of experience as an after school program tutor leading educational games and computer-based tutoring. Even though I have a strong background in English, I can also tutor elementary to middle school math. My favorite subject to tutor is Math because understanding the basics opens up a whole new world of numbers to explore. I am very patient so I don’t mind giving my students a moment to grasp a concept or describing it in new ways until it is better understood. My philosophy is that students just need support and encouragement when they are frustrated with the problems they are trying to solve. Aside from trying to bring out the potential in students I enjoy a myriad of hobbies including playing guitar, juggling, and bowling.

I got graduated from Catholic University of Peru in the city of Lima, Peru. I received my bachelor degree in Accounting last year. After my graduation, I moved to the US looking forward to study a Master related to Financial Accounting and Reporting. Moreover, I came from a family that highly values education which it has been an important source of inspiration to me. So that, I started tutoring people since my classmates through adults wishing to improve their Spanish, English and Mathematics level, which I really enjoy those subjects besides accounting. In my experience, I figured out that my students have a lot of motivation to study as a team in a good atmosphere. I consider myself an immigrant who believes education is a source of progress and personal development as a citizen, and I try to share that message to everybody. In my free time, I prefer cooking, seeing movies, swimming and dancing salsa.

I hold a BA from Rice University (summa cum laude, with honors) and an MA in English Literature from Rutgers University, where I am expecting to complete my PhD within the year. I offer tutoring for English or AP English classes, and writing assignments for any class at any level, as well as SAT, GRE and GRE Literature preparation.Rutgers is an extremely selective and competitive English program that requires its students to write at the level of the most elite academic journals and to independently develop syllabi for teaching, so I am uniquely qualified to help students at any level improve their writing and literacy skills. As an undergraduate at Rice, I worked with the writing department as a tutor for students in introductory writing and humanities courses. I have also worked as a tutor for elementary and middle school students in a variety of subjects during time as an undergrad. As a graduate student, I have taught five semesters of writing courses designed for incoming freshmen. I teach students the fundamentals of essay writing: making logical arguments, using evidence, constructing proper paragraphs, etc. I am especially vigilant about eradicating common writing errors and helping students improve their vocabulary and prose style. My specialty is, of course, English literature, and I have taught several semesters of literature courses for Rutgers undergraduates. Helping students develop an appreciation for great novels, poetry, and drama is not only my career but my passion! But even for students who don't love the books they are assigned, I believe it is important, as a life skill, to know how to discuss literature critically. Of course, good standardized test scores are useful too, and I understand from my own experience what skills are necessary to succeed on the SAT, GRE and Lit GRE.When I am not reading, writing, or teaching, I love to travel. In the past year alone I've been to 18 countries across Europe and Asia. Now that I'm back in New York, after a summer of research in London, I'm getting reacquainted with the Giants and Knicks (did I mention I'm a native New Yorker?), working on my cooking skills, and practicing foreign languages (French and Russian for now). Looking forward to meeting you!

I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's of Science and Arts in Neuroscience. When it comes to standardized testing, studying for class tests, and other academic work, I used to struggle a lot when I was a student. I started taking a different approach to learning. When it came to math, I would do my best to find the simplest method to find the answer rather than studying a difficult method. I would then develop healthier study habits for my classes and would ace them while prioritizing sleep. As a former student myself, I know how difficult school can be. That is why I want to share my tips and strategies to those who seem to struggle so that they can come out on top. My history tutoring high school students, middle schoolers, and even college underclassmen has given me the experience to properly educate and help those going through academic, standardized testing, and even student life struggles. As a tutor, I will teach students the best way to tackle difficult questions in their respective subjects, studying habits that promote physical and mental wellbeing, and core concepts that are fundamental to solving questions both standardized tests and academic coursework. I have a passion to provide SAT/ACT tutoring, math, science, and even MCAT tutoring. I also like to get to know my student's personal and professional goals, so I can personalize my tutoring approach to each of them.

As I have been tutoring math, literature, test preparation, and writing through out middle school, high school, and college, I have found tutoring to be very fulfilling and inspiring. No matter what the subject, each student requires a new, unique approach when tutoring. Whether they want to raise their test score or if they just are not getting the subject, above all, I understand a student's individual needs to best know how as a tutor, I can best help them reach their goals.I graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a bachelors degree in Literature and have lived in New York just over a year. My interests include art, writing, and technology; I especially love it when the three come together. I am an avid reader of canonical and "experimental" literature, so I love tutoring writing and english literature. I am also great at tutoring Algebra, and I have helped students prepare for the SAT.
