I am Lindsay. I am an avid lover of language, literature, writing, learning, artistic endeavors, athleticism, nutrition, and enhancement of the mind through those pursuits. That being said, I’d like to share my passion and enthusiasm for learning with you.I have been a teacher for 6 years. My teaching experiences are as follows:- middle school children English in the United States as a classroom assistant- middle school children English in Mexico as a lead teacher- American and international university age students Spanish as a part time instructor- high school age students Spanish as a high school teacher- international adults English at a non-profit center in Syracuse, as a student-teacher- kids yoga classes as the lead teacher- adult hatha yoga classes, asana, pranayama, meditation as the lead teacher- high school girls volleyball,basketball and track coachMy idea when I am teaching is that I am a facilitator. That means that you know how to do everything, you just don’t know that you know. My job is to show you that you have everything you need to do it yourself. Therefore, I ask questions to guide you, and in time you will see that you do indeed possess the necessary mental forces to complete the tasks before you of your own accord!When dealing with language, I use the communicative language approach, and focus on instilling a student-centered learning environment. I both create and ask the student to take part in creating course materials and shaping course content to foster interest in both learning and participating in their personal learning progress. I attempt to create an environment where a student feels no fear to ask questions, and is able to verbalize and communicate, and also is able to travel outside the classroom and use what we’ve learned in authentic contexts. I closely monitor student progress, and also am more than open to emailing and meeting at the student’s convenience.As far as my personality goes, I am a very caring, silly, open-minded individual. I genuinely am concerned for the welfare of those around me, which is why I am a yoga instructor. I also love academic pursuits, which is why I hope to be a tutor for who ever needs assistance.

I am an Elementary Education and Mathematics major at The College of New Jersey. I am working towards my Bachelors Degree to teach Grades K-6 and to be certified to teach Mathematics in Grades K-12, and English in Grades K-8. I have worked at an after-school program, a summer day camp, and have had experience observing and teaching in multiple classrooms. I have always been passionate about helping students reach their goals and I believe that education is a top priority. My favorite subject is Mathematics, and in my spare time, I enjoy reading, crocheting, and playing the piano.

Having taken part in a study abroad program, I've studied in central Taiwan alongside students from all over the world. My primary goal with my students is to ensure they succeed. My areas of strength are trig, algebra, calculus and physics. The few years I spent as a director for the HYPE UWM hip hop dance team gave me the opportunity to coach a lot of different people, and not just teaching math. As a weekend warrior mechanic, I have been fixing cars for the past 10 years which has significantly strengthened my problem solving abilities. Public speaking has been a strength since early on and I'm always looking forward to the next opportunity to pass on as much knowledge as possible. Currently, I work as a product service engineer for industrial and marine transmissions. Throughout my schooling I have worked in manufacturing, quality control and design engineering fields.I am a strong advocator of making sure my students are able to demonstrate to others the very problems they were having trouble with originally. Certain subjects can be very difficult so you can be guaranteed I have as much patience and different approaches as it takes to help my student understand not only the problem but the concept.

Hello! My name is Hannah and I attended Washington University in St. Louis; I graduated with honors in 2013 and studied history and psychology. After working for years as an editor on my college newspaper and completing an honors thesis I have extensive background in drafting, writing, and editing. I have a passion for the writing process and am ready to guide you or your child through any and all parts of essay writing, book reports and other English projects.With AP Exams approaching, I would also be happy to help in preparation for multiple choice and/or essay writing for social studies exams, especially AP US History and AP US Government and Politics. I was a very successful AP student, scoring 5 on AP US, AP Gov., AP Art history, and AP World. I boosted my knowledge of many of these subject areas through over 30 hours of history coursework at the college level.In my spare time I love to run and swim (I was a competitive swimmer and swim coach for many years), watch college basketball, and listen to podcasts.I look forward to working with you!

I have over twenty years of teaching and tutoring experience. For 14 years I taught career and technical education courses at the high school level. I have also worked as a home-bound teacher, and substitute teacher in varying subjects.I have high expectations for student achievement and stress that school is a place for learning. I believe that it is important to show the students that what they learn in the classroom transfers into the real world.Students are encouraged to express their knowledge in a variety of ways, which encompass all learning styles. I will use many different techniques to bring instruction to an individualized level. In order for student achievement to occur, teachers must be aware of the different learning styles. I support each student's learning with positive reinforcement and give suggestions for improvement a job well-done.

After completing a two year service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in West Africa, I earned my teaching credentials in both English and Special Education and taught in Philadelphia for four years. I recently relocated to sunny San Diego with my Master's degree in Education in hand and tutoring experience under my belt. English and Math are my strong suits, and I'm excited to put my tutoring skills to use through Varsity Tutors.

I am an attorney located in Scottsdale, Arizona. I received my law degree from Tulane University in New Orleans. I graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in History and Economics as well.I enjoy teaching high school math, and all levels of standardized test prep: SAT, ACT, PSAT, AIMS, LSAT and GRE. I have taught Algebra at the high school and community college level. I have also tutored students for the ACT, SAT, and GRE tests, as well as a variety of high school and college subjects, especially focusing on math.

Former debater/mock trial competitor for any of you involved in that too.I'm finishing up a bachelor's of science in history with a minor in economics, so I would call history and econ my strengths.I like to think the thing I'm best at is helping people understand ideas by meeting them where they're at and speaking their language.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Cornell University. I am also a graduate of the University at Buffalo Law School. I admitted to the practice of law in New York and New Jersey. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration at Stony Brook University. I enjoy mentoring and tutoring students. I have experience working with a variety of age groups. The subjects that I like to tutor are Reading and Writing. I also enjoy working with students on the college application process. It is an exciting time for high school students and I enjoy assisting in making the college selection that is right for them. In my spare time, I enjoy Zumba and watching television shows such as Shark Tank, Amazing Race and The Voice.
