I am a student at the Honors College at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, pursuing a degree in Computer Science and Business Analytics & IT. Some of the subjects I tutor are Algebra, Calculus I & II, and the SAT, but there are many more you can inquire about. I love tutoring students because I know how much a tutor can inspire a student to improve, and I hope to offer that to my own students. Some of my personal hobbies when not tutoring or studying are playing tennis and photography.

I graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University with a BS in engineering physics, and a math minor. I have been tutoring for more than 6 years. For 2.5 years, I taught math to Cornell Engineering undergraduates, and I looked forward to it every week! On Varsity Tutors, I tutor up to college level mathematics and physics, test prep (including AP courses, and SAT reading/writing). Explaining difficult math and science concepts in plain English is my forte. I love teaching and will be glad to help anyone become an independent learner.

Hi! My name is Aaron. I'm a born and raised North Carolinian. In the realm of sports I pull for NC State and ECU, my alma maters. I believe that Lexington Style BBQ is the best as I'm originally from that part of the Piedmont.I graduated with my BS in Mathematics from East Carolina University and taught for a time in the eastern part of the state. I worked in high school classrooms teaching subjects from Algebra I through Pre-Calc or Math I through Functions and Modeling in the NC Common Core curriculum.I am no stranger to tutoring! Outside of my teaching experience, I worked for several years at ECU as a lead tutor and mentor for the university's college algebra and developmental math classrooms. I've seen students from engineers to graphic design and theater majors struggle with classes, but I've struggled right along with them. I work hard to make it all "make sense". As such, I use a mixture of lecture technique as well as storytelling, kinesthetic/hands-on activities, and practical mnemonics that are useful in many different classrooms. With any skill, it takes time, effort, and focus. I've struggled with math just as much as I've struggled learning to play trumpet and French horn. It takes time, energy, and focus. I'm here to cheer you on, it's up to you how much you let me.

I am a graduate of James Madison University. I double majored in English Literature and Arabic. In college, I started tutoring students of all ages. I assisted them in various areas of study, including essay and Arabic grammar. After college, I worked at a refugee center with children of immigrants. I helped them to adjust to a new environment, while simultaneously adapting to the public school curriculum. I am also a certified ESL/TESOL teacher and have experience teaching groups of students as well as providing individual lessons.Working in different environments, with a diverse range of students, encouraged me to explore more creative tutoring methods in order to understand and communicate ideas. Through my experience as a tutor, I developed a multifaceted approach to teaching and learning; a style that is adaptable and uniquely catered to each individual personality. I have found that humor and games are particularly effective in motivating students to achieve in subjects they may otherwise find dull or abstract. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about languages and literature. I have spent much of my life traveling abroad and have a deep affinity for culture. Some of my hobbies are painting and drawing and playing music; I also love dancing and hiking.

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Education 1-6 with a Mathematics Concentration from Niagara University. I also received a minor in Sign Language. I continued my education at Niagara to achieve my Master's Degree in Special Education 7-12. I have been teaching in a classroom for 3 years but have been working in a classroom atmosphere since 2012. My favorite subject to tutor is math. I really enjoy Sign Language and continue to teach it to my current students. I believe that students should have a hands on learning experience and want to be motivated. Tutoring sessions should be more student-led so that they are getting the experience necessary to achieve the grades they want to.

I've been teaching Physics and Chemistry for the last 6 years at a prestigious high school in Utah. Originally from Chicago, I'm happy to be back in the Midwest. I love teaching because I love to see students' enthusiasm when they understand something for the first time or when they finally accomplish something that is hard for them. Success in school is more than just about getting a grade. True success can build students' confidence, increase their desire to learn, and give them more optimism in their future endeavors. My Bachelor of Science degree is in Physics Teaching, with a minor in Chemistry, and my Master of Science degree is in Technology and Engineering Education. My programs well prepared me in the sciences and mathematics with many classes, labs, and tutoring opportunities. My Master's program is a rare field and has drastically reshaped the way I teach. For my thesis, I was able to study the effects of the engineering design process on students abilities to problem solve. Since then, I have focused my instruction not only on the content, but also on teaching kids how to think through challenging situations using an organized thought pattern. Instead of just help students with their homework, I work to help them understand the content and teach them how think through the problems so they can approach new situations without hesitation. My students have statistically been the highest in the school both in their classroom tests and on their standard tests. I've had particular success with closing the gender gap for my classes. On average, boys do 12% better than girls on their standard tests in science and math, but in my classes, there was no gender gap. All students did significantly higher than their school wide and statewide peers. I attribute this primarily to the ideas of teaching for understanding, using a gradual release of responsibility in solving problems, and teaching problem solving skills.
