Do you even math? A question like this may bring to mind something like 'doing complicated calculations' or 'working out sums', but it is simply so much more. To me, mathematics is a language, explaining how our world works, such as why things exist as they do in geometrical space.... First and foremost, treat all students with absolute equality, regardless of age, gender, nationality, or intellectual ability. I make it my business to understand the student's point of view, however erroneous, before attempting to give them my own. Meaning, when I do teach, I can choose a conceptual path that leads from the student's current understanding to a broader or more conventional one. Finally, enthusiasm and levity is critical to good teaching, and students respond well to it.
