Hi! My name is Jamilla and I am a graduate student in communicative disorders. I have been a life-long student with a passion for learning. My tutoring career started when I was in 5th grade. I was given the opportunity to tutor a Kindergartener at my school. I came to the conclusion that I love to pass along things that I have learned. I do this naturally, so I decided to keep tutoring. In middle school, I tutored elementary school students at an after school program in my neighborhood. In high school, I tutored ESL students as part of the YMCA Reads program. In college, I tutored 4th graders through the Junior Achievement program. During my graduate education, I have tutored students at the City of Refuge shelter.

Tutoring does not feel like work to me. I have received the help of tutors at different times in my life as well. The help that I received from them worked to shape my education. I want to be able to give back in this way.

I am also a black belt in TaeKwonDo. I taught Latin Ballroom dancing in high school and Salsa Rueda in college. For exercise, I love to take Zumba classes. I plan to become a speech language pathologist in order to provide therapy to a wide variety of people.
