What is your teaching philosophy?
I use a method where I let students try a problem first, regardless of whether they succeed or fail, and then I show them how to do it. I use this method because I have found it helpful in my studies of physics and the mathematics involved in it. Trust me, it’s easier to throw a football after you've thrown one before, than if someone tells you how to throw one but you've never even held one in your hand. Word.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would introduce myself, ask the student what their dreams in life work, and talk about hobbies.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I let students try problems on their own first. I teach them to try problems and then look up answers, which has worked for me in learning.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would have them focus on what they have in store for them after their education. I would also try to develop a pleasure for learning in them.
