For most of my life, I've been split between the Arts and the Sciences. I recently graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelors in Music, and although I now sing and play flute around the Chicagoland area, I simply couldn't resist also enrolling at Columbia College Chicago to pursue studies in Acoustics. At Northern, I tutored various subjects for two years and grew to love the act of teaching and sharing knowledge. I especially enjoy working on test prep, mathematics and writing as these are, from my point of view, the essential skills towards navigating today's world. I also have extensive background in the higher levels of music theory, which I'm always happy to share. In tutoring, I am very insistent on simplifying and strategizing. There are only so many ways of approaching any given problem - together, we'll work to find the best one.

I am currently applying to MFA programs and working as a tutor in NYC. I went to Boston University where I studied Mandarin, Political Science, and East Asian Studies. After spending a lot of time in Shanghai and coming back to the US where I worked at a midsize marketing firm, I realized I am really most passionate about literature and reading. I left the marketing world to pursue academia and have been fully immersed in this world of learning and tutoring for over a year. Outside of Varsity Tutors, I also tutor an 11th grade boy several times a week in AP English and AP Biology. Personally, I also enjoy writing fiction, specifically short stories, and I play acoustic guitar.

I majored in Cell Biology and Neuroscience in undergrad & have a lot of experience tutoring several students from elementary school to high school and can teach a variety of subjects! I have been a tutor on varsity for 4+ years and have worked with a wide variety of students. In addition to school help, I would be happy to help high school juniors and seniors with the college application process, especially those who plan on going to medical school at the end of undergrad (resume writing, the common application, essay editing, interview skills, etc)

I enjoy all of these subjects, but I understand they can be hard to a lot of student without one on one help. That's where I come in. I tutor math, science, social studies, reading comprehension, and test prep so that I can bring my passion for learning to students who aren't getting the help they need in the classroom.I have experience tutoring students from 13 to college age in math and science, and I'm looking forward to expanding my subject with new students in social studies, reading, and test prep. I am particularly interested in helping high school students prepare for AP tests, many of which I have personal experience with.When I'm not working, I try to get outside! I love camping, hiking, and exploring all around our beautiful state. I also spend time reading, gardening, and cooking.
