I am a senior at St. John's University pursuing my degree in Economics. Ever since my first semester at the University, I have tutored fellow students in various subjects at the Language Center. I really enjoy working with people from different cultures and backgrounds. I truly believe nothing improves student performance as much as one-on-one human tutoring.I specialize in Spanish and Economics. I believe when learning it is very important to work with your strengths to understand what is being asked from you. I'm a former basketball player and am currently an assistant coach for Tilden High School's varsity basketball team. My other hobbies include music, movies, and football.

The Operations Management program is a business program which utilizes science and math to solve business problems and make systems more effective and efficient.I have been working with people in the manufacturing sector for over thirty years. During that time I have had many opportunities to guide new employees and teach training classes. I even had the opportunity to act as a year-long technical advisor to three separate teams of university senior design teams as they completed their senior design project.I am excited about this opportunity with Varsity Tutors to help students!

My interest in science dates back to childhood, and being close to NASA was always a plus. So when I reached college majoring in Biochemistry was a no-brainer for me. I also double minored in Spanish and Chemistry. Learning has always been an important part of my life due to my mother being a teacher and to this day I continue to learn as much as I can about a variety of subjects. I currently work for MD Anderson Cancer Center in their Radiation Physics department. We perform output calibrations for particle accelerators that give radiation therapy to patients. I plan on continuing my education to become a medical physicist.Although I am passionate about science and mathematics, it didn't always come easy for me. Some things made sense at first, some things just didn't. But believing that I was intelligent enough to comprehend new concepts helped me be the person I am today. No concept was too formidable and it was a matter of taking the time to properly learn it and having perseverance. I believe this applies to other aspects of life that aren't related to academics. In my free time I enjoy art in its many forms, distance running, boxing (I hope to compete this year), playing piano and cello, history, culture, and many other things.

While in school, I began a non-profit called "MyCivics" where we specialized in tutoring students in the social sciences such as politics, government, history and other areas. Currently, I am in school for my Ph.D. in Public Policy and work full-time in local government as a public administrator.Why do people make the decisions that they make? That's the question that I have dedicated to spending my career hoping to answer. As a student of politics and government, it is my job to not only learn, but also help others learn about the decision-making processes that affect their lives every day.
