...Following my graduation I spent over two years teaching as a member of the Peace Corps in Tanzania. I taught hundreds of secondary school students both math and physics. Now, having returned to the US, I am anticipating starting a master's program in the fall. When I'm not working I enjoy playing and watching basketball, reading and exercise. I love learning and I am eager to share my skills and knowledge with others.

My tutoring philosophy is to emphasize that math is a skill and not something that's just innate in people, there's no such thing as "just a math-person," anyone and evereyone can be good at math. The difference is how we think about math, and why does math work the way it does. Once someone understands the "why," they can overcome any "how."

I'm a recent PhD graduate in Bioengineering in the Boston area. My thesis involved nanoparticles and bacterial infections, but as a biomedical engineer I've had training in circuits, mechanics, some programming, chemistry and biology. Tutoring for me is a collaborative effort, following a problem-based learning with questions that will lead the student towards the answer they're looking for while providing a well-rounded understanding of why and how that answer works.
