I have a passion for languages, and I particularly love teaching English as a second language (ESL)! I have experience tutoring students in various other subjects: math, science, and English, and students of varying age ranges: middle school, college, and adults, but I always come back to ESL!
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from Oakland University, as well as my TESOL certification. While pursuing this degree I had the opportunity to visit a couple Spanish speaking countries and volunteer teach an ESL class of 15 adults for 12 weeks!
I believe that there is not one correct way to teach English as a second language, but that each student benefits from a slightly unique approach. There is incredible power in knowing a second language, and not only because it helps you communicate with new people. I have found that learning a second language often teaches you things you didn't know about your first language!
In my spare time I enjoy traveling, reading, journaling, and spending time with my beagle!

I have loved to read since first grade when I first learned how! My favorite book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I also love going for walks with my beagle, scrapbooking, and traveling. The next place I am hoping to travel is Italy!
