Liza: Fort Worth tutor
Certified Tutor
With nearly 25 years of experience in education, I bring both heart and strategy to every tutoring session. My passion lies in helping students grow academically, emotionally, and confidently through personalized instruction that meets them where they are and guides them toward success.
I've taught elementary school for 9 years and middle and high school for over 16 years, supporting students through remediation and tutorials at all three levels. Whether working one-on-one or in small groups, I tailor each lesson to the student's learning style, academic level, and personal goals. I've led intervention programs in reading and math across all grade levels, using data-driven strategies to close skill gaps and accelerate progress. My students know they're supported, challenged, and believed in.
Math is my favorite subject to tutor, especially Algebra and Geometry, but I also work extensively with elementary/middle school math, Spanish, Science, and English Language Arts. As a native Spanish speaker with advanced college coursework in Spanish literature and composition, I offer bilingual instruction and culturally responsive support. I've also guided students through test prep with strong results, helping them build confidence and improve performance.
I hold a bachelor's degree in Education and a master's in Educational Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I completed doctoral coursework in Educational Administration at Walden University and am currently pursuing a Medical Doctor degree in the Dominican Republic, where all coursework is in Spanish, reflecting my commitment to lifelong learning and academic excellence.
At Varsity Tutors, I've worked with students from elementary through high school in both individual and small-group formats across all subjects. I specialize in breaking down complex concepts, building foundational skills, and fostering a growth mindset. My goal is always the same: to help students feel capable, supported, and ready to succeed.
I look forward to helping your child/student thrive.

Outside of teaching and studying, I find joy in spending quality time with my family across the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Texas. Whether it’s playing sports with my kids, relaxing at the beach, or sharing stories with my grandson, family moments keep me grounded and energized. I’m an avid sports fan, both on the field and as a spectator, and I enjoy the teamwork and discipline that sports instill values I also bring into my tutoring sessions. I have a soft spot for science and crime shows, which reflect my curiosity and love for problem-solving. When I’m not immersed in medical textbooks for my MD studies, I unwind with fiction and mystery novels that keep my mind sharp and imagination active. These hobbies fuel my ability to connect with students of all ages. I understand the importance of balance, and I bring that same energy and empathy into my work, creating a learning environment that’s both focused and uplifting.
