Certified Tutor

I am passionate about learning and about helping others discover the joy and confidence that come from understanding new ideas. My teaching philosophy centers on guiding students to think critically and independently, so they can develop the skills to learn effectively on their own.

I hold a B.A. in Economics from Brandeis University, an M.A. in Economics from Michigan State University, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego. Over the course of my career, I have taught and mentored students at many levels. I served as a professor in the Government Department at Georgetown University and have also held research positions at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the United States Agency for International Development, the World Bank, Stanford University, and the Federal Reserve.

These experiences have strengthened my ability to explain complex material clearly and to connect academic concepts to real-world applications. I particularly enjoy working with high school and college students in subjects such as mathematics, government, economics, U.S. history, writing, research methods, and college entrance exam preparation.

As a tutor, I strive to create an encouraging and intellectually engaging environment where students feel supported in asking questions, tackling challenges, and developing their own insights. My ultimate goal is not only to help students succeed in their coursework, but also to help them build the confidence and curiosity that will sustain their learning far beyond the classroom.
