I am a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering graduate from California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, California. Since graduating, I worked three and a half years in the industry, and have expanded my interests into other fields of science, philosophy, and writing.
Education is important to me for a handful of reasons. Not only has it has been a source of joy for me personally as it has helped me to solve my own problems and brought me joy when seeing the joy people experience in that moment when they understand something they hadn't before, but I think the solutions to our societies' growing problems will require many great minds, so the first step to solving our societies' problems is to increase the intelligence of our societies and to grow those great minds.
The key to understanding is relation. For example, many people don't understand math because they don't see its use. For example, what is the use of calculus? Why should I learn all these things that seem so hard to understand? It's not that I can't, it's that I simply can't see why I should take the time to do so. Calculus tells NASA engineers when to release pieces of the rockets they fire into space to shed weight so that the rocket can make it up into space, it can be used to determine how many gallons of fuel will be needed to fly a plane from destination to destination with precision, and it can tell you how fast a car will be going a second after it has started moving, and this may be useful to an insurance claim investigator.
As a holder of one of the most difficult degrees to attain and a person who has spent some time in the industry, I have substantial experience in many of the difficult subjects, and it is my goal to inspire students and help them succeed by making these subjects relatable.
