As a product of New York City's public education system and a doctoral graduate, I look back on my background as a child immigrant from Venezuela and marvel at the opportunity of bringing my teaching, writing and customer service experience to a diverse community.

As an educator for the last nine years, I am proficient in college-level instruction, curriculum writing and native fluency in English and Spanish. My course list spans multiple disciplines: Latin American & Iberian Studies, World Literature, World History, Art History, Gender & Queer Studies, Early Modern Studies, Foreign Languages and writing. Since 2012, I have taught across three different universities in Manhattan, starting as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Pace University. I began teaching for the Modern Languages Department (SPA101/SPA102), but joined co-taught courses since 2015 for the Latin American Studies Department within the same institution (LAS101, LAS150, LAS210, LAS240). From 2014 to 2016, I taught Latin American and Iberian culture and composition at City College (SPA322, SPA353, SPA351, SPA451). I also taught Spanish, English and Latin American Studies at Baruch College from 2014 to 2020 (SPA101, SPA102, LACS4901, ENG2800, ENG2850, CMP2850). In total, I have written, organized and taught sixteen unique courses.

Complementing my teaching background is my ability to turn abstract concepts into tangible multimedia content for experts, students and the general public, no matter where they are in the world. A total of four educational projects showcase my interests in cosplay, gender theory, pop culture, and Latinx Studies. Presently, I am the Content Director and writer for two educational initiatives. As the Editor-In-Chief of Cosplay Inquirer, I am responsible for writing, editing, photographing and coordinating 15-25 pieces of original content for a monthly crowdsourced newspaper. 5 recurrent staff volunteers located in Australia, Portugal and the United States, 3-5 additional writers and 3-5 video interview guests across the world join forces to explore our passioncosplaythrough an academic lens. This unique project has motivated me to learn how to administer and update a WordPress website, edit video on Adobe Rush, and practice graphic design with Canva. The second educational content project I write and direct is the Cronista de Indias YouTube Channel about Latin American Studies. Inspired by my LAS150: Latin American Female Political Leadership in the Republican Era course at Pace University, the current 27-episode "Latin American Divas" video course democratizes my original research so anyone can learn, regardless of financial status. The videos successfully amplified classroom instruction and homework, yielding a 20% increase in class participation, and higher grades over three years. In the past, I participated in two initiatives, likewise derived from my courses. The Why Do We Read This? literature and pop culture podcast, which I co-hosted from September 2019 to March 2020, likewise grew from World Literature lesson plans at Baruch College. The 14 episodes I contributed to have served as a learning aide in classroom instruction since 2019 (ENG2800/ENG2850). Lastly, my LAS101: Introduction to Latin American Studies lesson plans at Pace University inspired a book chapter, "The Dissident Cosmos: The Andean World Across Cultural Productions, 1400-2017," in Latin America in the World, published by Routledge Press in April 2020.

I have extensive experience in customer service dating back to 2005. At jetBlue Airways, I served as a Bilingual Inflight Crewmember from February 2009 to September 2013. My polite demeanor and background in public speaking turned enforcing customer compliance with Federal Aviation Administration's and jetBlue's regulations into positive experiences. My attention to detail, organization, time management, discipline and passion for learning allowed me to be both a full time flight attendant and graduate student simultaneously from August 2009 to September 2013. From 2012 to July 2018, when I defended my doctoral dissertation, I continued to be a full time graduate student while teaching, also full time in multiple disciplines.

On July 24, 2018, I defended my doctoral dissertation in the Latin American, Iberian, and Latino Cultures program at the CUNY Graduate Center, focusing on the early modern period with a 3.93 GPA. Titled "Colonial Epic and Patronage of the Indies in Arauco Domado by Pedro de Oa," the thesis evaluates the adaptation of European literary canon to the conquest of Chile from the perspective of the first generation of American-born Spaniards as well as how epic poetry nourished Iberian Golden Age theater. Under the supervision of Dr. Raquel Chang-Rodrguez, Dr. Carlos Riob and Dr. Juan Mercado, the dissertation integrates not only my knowledge of Latin America, but also my certificates in Medieval and Renaissance Studies. As an undergraduate student at Pace University, I obtained my bachelor's degree with a dual-major in Art History and Spanish, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

Thank you for your consideration.
