I'm Ryan! I studied Farsi at the Defense Language Institute, the premier language learning institute in the country. During my time at DLI, I tutored my classmates and graduated with a 3.99 GPA, earning the Maxwell D. Taylor Award. I worked as a translator for 5 years before looking for a new career.

During my career as a translator, I began practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Over the last decade of training, I've attained the rank of brown belt. I started teaching classes and private lessons as a purple belt and most of my teaching approach is informed by this experience. My students taught me that the only correct way to relay information is the way that the student understands! Most of my job is finding the intersection between the student's curiosity and my areas of expertise.

I have changed careers again and earned a BS in mathematics. Studying math has made me realize that a student focused approach is the only correct approach. While studying at the University of New Orleans, I worked as a tutor both for the university and privately. My students have all found success in their math studies. Everyone is capable of learning math and I can help you regain your confidence and realize that you are a math person!

During our sessions, I will try to establish a discourse with you. Together we will discover how you learn best. We will restore your confidence in your own ability to learn and get some repetition with the material. You can benefit from my more than 6 years of teaching and tutoring experience.
