Certified Tutor

I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a focus on creative writing from Georgia State University in 2013. I volunteer at an organization in Savannah called the Deep Center (a volunteer creative writing program in Chatham County middle/high schools) and with the Savannah Chatham County Public School District. I offer tutoring in a broad range of subjects, but I'm most passionate about middle through high school English, SAT & ACT English Prep, and English as a Second Language. I also perform Improv Comedy in Savannah, and I have no doubt I could help a student gain confidence in public speaking.
I'll work with students to make sure we establish clear goals for improvement in their desired area, then develop a plan to meet those goals. I also make sure to identify each student's best learning style, and deliver information in a way that makes the most sense to them. That's the difference between power-points and true pedagogy. The latter engages a student; it instills confidence in the material and ideally gives them some joy in the subject. The former just lets a student know it's a good time to play candy crush under the desk.
