Certified Tutor

I am a high school mathematics teacher in New York. I graduated from Stony Brook University, receiving a degree in Sociology with a concentration in Political Science and History, all personal interests of mine. Following my undergraduate years, I joined the New York City Teaching Fellows, completing my training and receiving state teaching certification. I am currently working towards my Masters Degree in Mathematics Education. Ive been teaching Algebra and Algebra 2 in the classroom for the past two years. I have been tutoring since I was in high school. Originally, I tutored students for the SHSAT exam, having attended Stuyvesant High School myself. I continued on to tutor for the SAT exam as well as a wide variety of subjects from all grade levels. Ive tutored students ranging from 3rd grade to adults attempting to re-enter college. While Ive tutored many subjects, I focus mostly in mathematics. In my experience with children and adults alike, Ive come to believe in student-centered learning in which students construct their own knowledge. I am simply guiding them through the learning process. I am highly dedicated to the education of all students I encounter, and intend on remaining entrenched in that for my entire life. In my free time, I also coach my high school basketball team, play basketball myself, and read books to further my own knowledge.
