What is your teaching philosophy?
There ain't no such thing as free lunch.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Go over as many practice problems as possible.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
By providing many resources to do so.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Go over the concept several times.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I read along with the student and ask them to summarize the content to make sure they are understanding the main ideas.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
I go directly into practice problems to assess at what level the student is in.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I would help a student get excited with a subject that they are struggling in by showing them how easy it is to complete practice problems and improve.
