What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a first session with a student, I would introduce the basic concepts and core questions of the subject, and determine my student's learning style in order to plan future lessons better.
What is your teaching philosophy?
I find learning fun, and I always try to share that fun with my students. I also try to convey my interest in the subject matter to my students.
