I've had a rewarding and fulfilling career in diagnostic medical imaging for almost 20 years. I began as a Radiologic Technologist, then continued my education to become a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.In that role I was able to provide a great service and quality patient care in over 50 hospitals throughout the US. For this I will always be grateful. Patient care and student interactions brought me the most joy! My love and dedication to medical imaging is why I'm so excited and motivated to help future sonographers get credentialed and meet their career goals!My desire to teach also comes from my upbringing, where my father stressed the importance of education at an early age.My experience as a clinical instructor allows me to be compassionate and understanding. I understand the stresses that come along with being a credentialed sonographer, I aspire to alleviate that stress.

Hello, my name is Colm and I am currently a graduate student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I have been at RPI for 5 years now. I love to ski, play soccer and do a variety of other activities in order to have a good time.I have a fairly laid back approach to tutoring, with first establishing a baseline with each student and then working to improve the student overall, with focusing on the critical points first. I am most interested in tutoring technical subjects (math or sciences) or preparing for exams. I have taken the SAT, GRE, AP exams and a variety of subject tests. However, i would also work with students in whatever subject needs to be covered in order to help them succeed.

I have tutored students from elementary school to high school for over 5 years, ranging from one on one sessions to classroom settings of over 20 students. I have a Bachelor's in Human Biology and Psychology and am currently working towards my Master's in Occupational Therapy. I have always loved working with students and my long-term goal is to become a Pediatrics Occupational Therapist. My favorite subjects to teach are English (reading and writing), Math, and Science!

I consider teaching to be one of the most important professions in the world. It is one in which I have the opportunity to touch and shape the future each and every day that I work with students. I have various Chinese and English teaching/tutoring experience both in the United States and China. I have been a Chinese tutor for 2 years. Studnets love my class and parents say they learn more from me in ten weeks than the past 2 years. I value traditional Chinese culture and put some elements in my class. I wish that I can make Chinese learning as fun as possible!

I've worked was a volunteer docent at the American Museum of Natural History while I was in high school, teaching visitors and students about the various dioramas on view and giving demonstrations of phenomena like buoyancy. More recently I had the opportunity to work as a student caller at the Renssealaer Annual Fund, where I got to engage in alumni relations and answer the questions of parents of current students. Although I'd never worked in a sales position before that, my experience there helped me to learn how to talk with people and find out how they work and what interests them.At Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (my alma mater as of May 2015, also known as RPI), I enjoyed having the chance to work with my friends and colleagues and help them with their school work. More than the thrill of problem solving was the satisfaction I got when I helped them understand a problem and work through it themselves. At RPI I studied mathematics although I also had an interest in physics and computer science. As a tutor I look forward to helping you better understand math! The subjects I'm looking to teach include calculus, multivariate calculus, and differential equations, although I can also teach algebra for those who need it.Every student is different and to help them learn it's important to listen to them and decide on how to teach them, either with theory, applied problems, or some other method. This was something I learnt while I was responsible for leading practice sessions for one of my school's martial arts club.In my spare time I am learning how to be a developer and data scientist so I might eventually achieve my goal of one of those careers. I also really enjoy to read, run, and am currently learning how to play the piano, something I have always wanted to do since I was a kid. Teaching myself how to do these things has helped me better appreciate how constructive guidance from a tutor can be.

I chose to tutor because I myself was the beneficiary of tutoring when I was in middle school and high school so I know first hand how much help it can be. My favorite subjects are math and the social sciences such as psychology and sociology though I love learning so I'm good for anything. I believe that person-centric learning is the best approach to tutoring so I make sure to tailor my ways to what you need. Other than that I am a huge football fan and love to read during my free time.

I am a current student at the University of Florida studying aerospace engineering with an avid love of mathematics and physics and a passion for teaching students and inspiring them to thrive in STEM classes.
