Certified Tutor
I am currently a senior at the Stern School of Business at NYU, graduating this semester. I am majoring in Management and Finance with a minor in History. Professionally I aligned to Strategy Consulting overall, but have numerous interests in M&A, Private Equity, and Venture Capital. I have tutored peers and students for the past 7 years of my life and I have always assumed a role of a mentor, instead of being a simple tutor. Tutoring in general is a perfect means of passing down tips and experience gathered over years of schooling that help numerous students, no matter where they are. Outside of all of these aspectes, I am an avid traveler and have a huge passion to touch every little piece of the globe. The world's various cultures and people have lived a different subset of experiences than we have in our Western society. The ability to open one's perspective to these varying views and approaches to life is a key element of learning and such experiences are critical to everyone's development. In teaching I always include all of my perspectives and insights, no matter the subject. I look forward to working closely with all of you!

What is your teaching philosophy?
Teaching is not simply guiding an individual to solve a question correctly. In education, overall a broad and thorough understanding of a topic is more important. The techniques and approaches to topics are what defines a subject. Making sure a student understands the foundation of the matter is fundamental to the development toward more advanced matters in each and every subject.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
A first session is always used to gauge the capabilities and strengths of the student as well as see where there are slight gaps. Identifying the gaps first and foremost allows a means of filling them and strengthening the student's overall position in a subject right from the start of the tutoring. Only then can a tutor and student focus on discrete class-related issues and how to solve all the problems aligned with that.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
What defines an independent learner is strategy and belief in oneself. Many students lack the foundation of tips and tricks or the confidence in their own work. In my teaching, I constantly apply numerous tips that strengthen both the strategy and confidence of each and every student. These crucial elements will show the student what they are capable of without an immense amount of effort and struggle. This, in and of itself, will lead a student to be independent and successful.
