I work as a full-time Social Studies teacher at a high school right outside of Boston. I am a graduate of Bridgewater a State University where I majored in history. There, I learned not only the best methods to comprehend all of the facts and information that one must do while enrolled in such courses, but how to think critically at the subject at hand. After graduating, I passed the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure in history, become a licensed Social Studies teacher in the state. I am looking to start graduate school this year, where I will be getting a degree in Moderate Special Education,

As a teacher, I relate events of the past to modern day situations so it is easier for the students to comprehend. It is important that students understand the events in history that brought us to where we are today. In the class room, I utilize multimodal methods of instruction to ensure that the lesson is getting though to the students. What works for one, doesn't mean it will work for the other. I figure out which method best fits each of my students and will use that method for every lesson.

While studying history, it is not only the facts and dates that matter, but the ideas. I do my best to teach that in my classroom every day.
