Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of the University of Michigan-Flint and Baker College. I received my Associates Degree in Web Design from Baker, and at the University of Michigan I received a Bachelor of Arts, graduating with honors. My focus was on English Literature, Technical Writing, and History. Professionally, I have been a music and entertainment journalist, a technical writer, a web developer, an ESL editor, and a copywriter. I am currently the social media coordinator for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

I have traveled a good deal and lived in Europe from May until September of 2002. During my senior year, I was a tutor at the university's writing lab. Some of my work there included ESL tutoring. As a parent, it has been my experience in tutoring my son that people learn in different ways. My goal as a tutor is not to prescribe a method of learning, but to find out what's working and what is not working in a client's study habits. While I believe it's important for students to find their own way to solutions, I am ready to act as a guide in learning the correct process.

My hobbies include Brazilian jiu-jitsu, board games, and music.
