The students both had math assignments to work on. Student 1 was working on problems with volume of prisms, and Student 2 was working on problems involving surface area and perimeter of various shapes. Student 1 also worked on a Language Arts adjective assignment. I told the girls we would check their classes next session to see how they were doing and check for any missing assignments.

The student and I started by reviewing the book and seeing which concepts he had trouble in. His foundation is strong in Mathematics, but he just needs a bit of practice. I explained ratio problems that he was having trouble with and then we worked on some examples of them. Then we went over percentages and the concept of what percentage means, how to calculate a percentage of a number and how to work the other way around from it. Then we reviewed over algebraic expressions and how to isolate x and the whole numbers on opposite sides to solve x. As I suggested when I was leaving, if the student is able to complete the questions (4 questions after each chapter) on his own, he won't have any trouble doing well on the test.

The student and I practiced his current lesson of volume today. We discussed real world applications to volumes and discussed the units of measurement. We then moved on to graphing ordered pairs and determining ordered pairs for particular points on a graph. He understood this concept very well.

Today, the student and I covered ratios, transformations, and graphing. We also worked on circle formulas as well as some basic algebra. He has a test coming up on Wednesday, so we covered his quiz to prepare for the exam. He then asked any questions that he had. He is very confident in his test on Wednesday. I left all the notes with him, and I am excited to see how well he will do on his test. He worked really well; we just have to keep working on repeating concepts and practicing over and over again!
