The student and I started with getting to know each other. He showed me his binder and how he organizes all of his notes for each subject. We started with our review of math, which was a homework assignment on in and out functions. He did a fantastic job quickly solving problems in his head. A few topics that we covered were not included in the assignment: types of triangles, squaring and cubing numbers. After we finished math, we jumped into social studies. He was able to complete his SS homework for Mon-Thurs. He really seemed to enjoy the challenge of getting as much done as possible! Lastly, I made him promise me that he will write his homework in his agenda every day for all of his subjects. If he does, I will give him a green pencil next week!

The student worked on homework that covered converting degrees to radians, radians to degrees, finding the remaining trigonometric identities given one of the values and/or the information about the quadrant it is in. We also reviewed the unit circle, reference angles, and in which quadrants the trig functions are positive and which they are negative.

The student worked on his social studies work on the Declaration of Independence. We worked on memorizing states and capitals.

We went over force equilibrium and moved through the student's course material. He seems to be attaining a better understanding for the material each time that we meet. He just recently took his test, and we are waiting upon results.

Today we covered the multiplication and division of mixed numbers. The student understands the process, but occasionally makes computation errors. He also needs to work on the problem solving piece. He had a problem where they gave the answer (mph) and the time (h) and automatically divided because I told him that per means divide. He is doing well with the individual letters when he is working on the app on his iPad, but has trouble remembering how they are formed when writing on paper. He also tends to forget the direction to go with lower case O, G, Q when writing them in cursive. He found an app that he can practice writing a few words in cursive.

We went over every test the student has taken this semester to review for her final tomorrow, starting from conditional statements all the way to congruent triangles. She understands the concepts well and has a good grasp on what her teacher is looking for. We worked on factorization and linear combinations, which are two methods her teacher wants her to use when solving problems.
