I am a graduate of Northern Illinois University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Economics/Business. I also earned my Masters & Doctorate degree in Biblical Studies, Midwest Bible College, Milwaukee. I'm author of 3 books dealing with leadership & Biblical faith principles. I am a former scholar MVP athlete and 4 year starting college quarterback and team captain. Since graduation, I have traveled the extensively, tutoring & teaching children and adults in subjects from writing, English, religion, and business courses. I am a motivator and encourager and enjoy working with anyone no matter the age. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, Literature, and Religion. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for Standardized Tests, we always seem to have the most fun (with remarkable advancements) prepping for the Critical Reading and Writing portions of the exams. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart these principles to all of my students to prepare them to be successful in their lives. I am a second year student in the Clinical Psychology doctorate program at Midwestern University in Downers Grove. While my specialty is Psychology, my other passions are writing and reading. I studied Creative Writing at New York University in addition to Psychology (with a Child/Adolescent Mental Health Studies focus) and graduated Magna Cum Laude. In my free time I love going to live music in Chicago and playing mandolin. I think my studies have given me a unique perspective on what makes tutoring effective. In addition to teaching the academics of the subject, I find it important to identify the obstacles to learning the child may be experiencing (such as anxiety, testing environment, interpersonal difficulties, learning styles) and focus on enhancing the child's strengths to build self-efficacy. I am also experienced in teaching relaxation techniques to help a child cope with the stresses of their academics. I easily build rapport with children and understand the importance of good communication between the parents and teachers in order to optimize the tutoring experience.

I entered the U.S. Army and served for 9 years, then after leaving the military, I became a stay at home mom to teens.Eventually, I went back to college and earned my A.A.S. in Medical Assisting and became Certified in that field after few years I attended Ashford University an online school and earned my B.A. in Social Sciences with Education. I'm currently attending Northcentral University another online school for my Master Education degree in Curriculum and Teaching.I also work as a house substitute in 2 inner-city schools teaching all grades. Later this month I will sit for my Alternative Resident Educator license in Integrated Social Studies, then later this year I will once again sit for my Integrated Science test which I hope to licensed in as well.I love teaching students who have the drive to learn no matter much they don't know I find they always looking for the answer somewhere and I want to see them get to the point that they understand the answer and look for the next step to learning. I am a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. Following graduation from the Academy, I spent two years living in a remote village in Zambia where I worked with the Peace Corps to educate villagers about the prevention of malaria, HIV, and tuberculosis, as well as other illness endemic to the region. When I got back from Zambia, I took the MCAT and soon began medical school. I am currently in my final year as a medical student and hope to begin a surgery residency next year. I love to teach, and have years of experience tutoring a wide array of subjects including algebra I and II, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus, statistics, PSAT, SAT math, reading, and writing, ACT math, reading, and science, religion, literature, and many more. I have worked extensively with students taking FLVS classes, guiding them through their assignments and preparing them for their tests. I have also worked with students traveling the equestrian circuit in Wellington. I know that people are capable of much more than they think they are when they have someone that believes in them and is able to act as a teacher and coach.
