I recently graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern University with a B.A. in Theatre and completion of the premed track. I find teaching so rewarding because not only can I help others with their studies, but often I learn something new, too!Effective learning stems from a true interest in the material and a desire to do well, and I have always been good at instilling my academic curiosity in others. I am a pre-Occupational Therapy student majoring in psychology with minors in neuroscience and art. I will be graduating with honors from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in May, and I will begin Washington University School of Medicine's Doctorate of Occupational Therapy Program this Fall. My academic pursuits have made me confident in my abilities to tutor those pursing degrees in social sciences along with those pursuing careers in health care. Currently my favorite subject is neuroscience. I fell in love with it after I started college and I plan on specializing in neurorehabilitionation as an occupational therapist.I have many years of experience working with children of all ages and abilities in many settings, including previous tutoring. I also have many years of experience working with children and adults with mental and physical disabilities. These experiences have provided me with skills to develop individualized plans to help individuals achieve their goals. I have had much success when applying these skills to my tutoring plans. I have also used and developed these skills further in the research I have conducted on promoting independence in adults with Autism and early intervention programs for children with Autism. My individualized interventions in both research projects resulted in increased fine motor skills in children (increasing their independence in daily cares) and successfully preparing adults for independently working in their community. Florida prior to returning to the mountains in middle school. I love to hike, camp, fish, and kayak. I also spent a great deal of time mountain and road biking in the late 1990's. I am passionately curious and have done a great deal of traveling mostly across the U.S. and Europe. I love to journal, read and do almost anything creative. I have a diverse love of music and become extremely excited over things like fireworks, funky post-its, Christmas, spontaneity, Sharpies and more! I firmly believe anything is possible and that there are many alternatives to use in place of "I can't". ALL are capable!
