Im a recent graduate of Amherst College, in Massachusetts. Im originally from Colorado, but now Ive found myself starting my life in Chicago. I double-majored in Biology and Russian (strange combination, I realize), and I also took a significant number of classes in our schools Theatre and Dance department. I love sitting down with a good book, sci-fi in particular, or just re-reading my well-worn copies of The Hunger Games or the Inheritance Cycle.My first introduction to tutoring started as volunteer work back in 2009, when I assisted my old math teacher in facilitating middle school math club. One year later, I was hired by a local Kumon center, where I worked as an education assistant for both math and reading. At the Kumon center, I worked with a variety of ages, from 3-16, on subjects ranging from basic addition and subtraction through beginning calculus, and from basic sounding out of words to interpretation of Shakespeare and beyond. I also worked as an assistant teacher at my aerial dance studio, working with the performance program for 8-13 year-olds. Once in college, I wound up working as a teaching assistant for the introductory biology lab in my sophomore year, and I worked as a peer tutor for our colleges Russian department as well. I also worked with a non-profit called Reader to Reader that paired grade-school students with a college-age reading buddy to read and discuss books.When Im not working, I enjoy doing ballet and training as a circus artist. Ive been training trapeze and aerial fabric for 7 years, and Ive been performing for 6. I also really enjoy spending time with cats, sewing, and exploring unknown cities, and not necessarily in that order.

My background and passion is trauma nursing. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh in 2010. Since then, I have worked at great institutions in ICU, Interventional Radiology, and Leadership. However, I have learned to be versatile as a travel nurse.Currently, I am teaching Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, and Nursing Concepts at a small College of Nursing with senior-level students. As my students have learned, I really just love to teach! I have seen and done enough to be confident about most concepts in my nursing career.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude with Bachelors in Electrical Engineering in 2013. I’ve also received Department Honors for Academic Excellence in Mathematics from the Chairman of the Math Department. I am a university undergraduate student at Rutgers University currently working towards a Bachelor of Science in Physics. I have been interested in art (painting, drawing, and photography) for most of my life, and it has majorly affected the way I think and interact with the world. I love traveling but also enjoy spending time at home, mostly gaming with my online friends. I have some research experience in high school, specifically in microbiology and material science. The academic subjects that I enjoy the most are science and math and have tutored the younger siblings of friends in such. When it comes to teaching, I find that a strong connection with the student is important, as well as recontextualizing the topic in terms of things that the student personally enjoys, whether it is games, or movies they have recently watched.

I have been teaching for eleven years at a small middle school in western PA. Ten of those years have been spent as an 8th grade language arts teacher. I love what I do because I love working with young adults and exposing them to different texts. I have studied Chemical Engineering for the past five years. I have had the opportunity to ensure the quality of silver and gold, plate silicon with conductive metals, and develop test procedures for lithium ion batteries. Somewhere along the way, I discovered that I really enjoy working with other students and sharing what I've learned.I started off tutoring a couple of neighbors in high school. Now I work with classes of up to eight. I prefer the smaller setting so that it doesn't feel like I'm assuming the role of a teacher or a professor. My areas of specialization are broad. I enjoy the sciences, maths, English language, and dabble in history.When I'm not tutoring, you can probably find me studying, traveling, or in the kitchen.

My work with BrainReach, in which neuroscience students create and present lessons to elementary school students in high need schools, especially contributed to my passion for education. I have tutored and/or taught a variety of ages from 4-21, as well as a variety of subjects including all sorts of Mathematics, Sciences, and Test Preparation. In my first year of the program, I interned at a middle school and was able to work with many students, including those in special education classes. I have substantial experience working with children and adolescents of all ages. I also have experience in working with individuals with learning and developmental disabilities. When tutoring, I employ a patient and individuated style so that I can tailor my approach to the unique needs of each student.
