Bolton IB Psychology HL Tutoring FAQ
IB Psychology HL requires students to master a wide range of material at multiple levels of analysis and to use this knowledge to design and interpret research experiments. Some students may find themselves struggling with certain aspects of the material during class, while others may face anxiety and disorganization when starting to review for the cumulative final exam. Whether a student needs assistance understanding a specific topic or is in need of reviewing and mastering a lot of very complex and detailed material, the assistance of a personal tutor can be invaluable. Varsity Tutors can help you connect with specialized IB Psychology HL tutoring from instructors who excel in working with IB rubrics and syllabi and have mastered the subject themselves.
IB tutors can help you streamline your studying process, diagnose any holes in your Psychology knowledge, and strategically address all of your IB Psychology HL difficulties. We at Varsity Tutors understand that all you are a unique individual and that the aspects of IB Psychology HL material that you struggle with are likely very different from those that other students may find challenging. For this reason, your tutor can design your sessions to meet your individual needs, instead of forcing you to fit into a one-size-fits-all tutoring framework. Our educational directors can take your specific academic situation, interests, and concerns into account when helping you select the tutor best suited to assisting you. Your tutor can then analyze your mastery of subject content to pinpoint the areas you find the most difficult, and can develop a targeted curriculum to help you tackle those areas and eventually remove the roadblock in your pathway of success.
The systematic study of behavior and mental processes includes a large amount of minutiae that needs to be memorized and retained. When covering every aspect of course content, you may feel overwhelmed, no matter their academic skill level. Review the material that you need to focus on most with the assistance of an IB Psychology instructor. Your tutor can create a customized learning plan designed around the concepts that most concern you. You are then free to adjust this plan, so you can spend as much or as little time on a concept as you need to completely understand it and be successful in your class. Additionally, since you will work with your instructor in one-on-one sessions, you can receive the personal attention and academic support you need to master the material efficiently and effectively. These sessions can take place in person at your home or at any other location of your choosing. You can also choose to have face-to-face online sessions. Whichever option you go with, you can work with a fantastic IB Psychology tutor who will provide a fully customized plan that is specifically tailored to meet your individual needs and your busy schedule. Tutoring sessions are flexible and can be scheduled around your classes, extracurricular activities, work, and social events. Your tutoring experience should be supportive and empowering, helping you master all of the material necessary for you to be able to move forward in your studies. From the experimental study to all five essays, qualitative research methodology to the internal assessment before the final exam, an IB Psychology tutor can help you gain the confidence to succeed. Contact our Varsity Tutors' educational directors to learn more about the tutoring options that are available in your area and how a highly qualified IB Psychology tutor can help you reach your academic goals so that you can achieve the level of success you desire.

Today I helped the student with the reading assignment on schizophrenia. Together, we looked over the article, which was an informational booklet published by the National Institute of Mental Health. Then we reviewed the keys terms and concepts, including hallucination, delusions, paranoia, catatonia, tonic-clonic seizure, electroconvulsive therapy, first and second generation anti-psychotic medications, comorbidity, psychosocial and biological contributors to the disorder, and long-range prognosis.
The student received a 100 on her last paper! I am proud of her. Today we reviewed for her exam, finishing the last of the PowerPoints. We started working on the take home essay for the exam. She will write a draft for our session tomorrow.
Today's session was spent on two subjects. First, we worked on writing. We reviewed the student's proposal for a feasibility report, and made sure it met all the assignment requirements and that it was free from any grammatical or spelling errors. Next, we completed an outline and drafted a thesis for her feasibility report. With the writing work out of the way, we proceeded to work on psychology. We went over her paper about the portrayal of a psychiatric illness in the media, and then I proceeded to help her elaborate on a few key points overall. The session was quite productive.
We went over the first quarter of the multiple-choice questions of an AP test.
There was improvement on questions dealing with the "Big Five" personality traits.
I left him with the second half of a practice test.
No concerns.
Yesterday, the student and I went over the chapter on sensation and perception in more detail since last time we kind of sped through it. The student remembered much of the material from last time and was making connections to other examples, which was great. Next time we meet we'll go over chapter 5.
We continued work on the paper by formatting articles for the braille note, and I helped the student prepare a bibliography. We discussed the articles and the book at some length. She was to write up the paper upon my leaving the session.
