The student was having problems with quadratic equation word problems, so I helped her translate the problem, and then we factored it to solve the problem. As we were solving the problem, she made me realize that she was simplifying the radical and then we began to make sure she could simplify it correctly. Overall, I believe she understood everything.

This week, we finished up the student's fundamental theorem of calculus packet in preparation for an upcoming test. Wherever possible, I drew out conceptually what each question was asking, since they were taught to do integrals on a calculator, and not yet by hand. Drawing out that we're actually finding an area under a curve helped solidify concepts.

We reviewed for the student's test tomorrow. We covered solving word problems on projectile motion, solving quadratic equations by factoring, solving quadratic equations with the quadratic formula, and simplifying imaginary numbers. I left him with a few questions to do in his review packet tomorrow morning before school. He seemed to understand everything and is well prepared for the test!

The student was ready to go! We learned all about the letter C. We began by remembering the C sound, tracing the letter, and sorting pictures that begin with the letter C. We also colored pictures that start with the letter C. She did a wonderful job sounding out words on her own. I can see the progress she is making. She was even able to remember our word family, 'at' from last week to spell 'bat' and 'cat' on her own! Keep up the good work! For the second part of our session, we learned about night time animals. We read the book "Night Animals" by Gianna Marino. She took a picture walk to start and was interested in finding out more about our story. She demonstrates good knowledge of print- she pointed in the correct motion (left to right) and at individual words as I read aloud. We finished our lesson with a game about nocturnal animals.

The student and I covered commonly used syllables. She seems to be able to identify many of the sounds we have been practicing. She was very receptive and attentive during the session.
