I am not someone who is satisfied when a student memorizes steps to solve a problem. I always want the student to understand what he/she is doing and why they are doing. This insight will make them a stronger, faster and better student, particularly in the field of mathematics. This brings the stude...

My goal with every student is to ensure they have a firm understanding of the material despite any difficulties we come across or how much time it may take. This will be accomplished through clear and thorough explanation of all relevant concepts followed by plenty of practice problems to ensure the student is familiar with the material, as I believe this is the most effective way to create a student's understanding of the content. I also believe it is of the utmost importance that we establish an environment that is conducive to learning. This means that the student and tutor should be comfortable enough to communicate openly and ask any questions that may arise without worrying about any judgement. This means creating a warm and friendly that the student looks forward to learning in.

I primarily tutor a lot of math classes. Anything from elementary school through undergrad. High school Geometry? Yep! Real Analysis? Absolutely! Python? Not quite math, you tricky person, but sign right up. I tutor a bit of physics and computer programming as well. Test prep, too.But who am I? I am a math music philosophy nerd. I love Gauss almost as much as I love Bach and I love Bach almost as much as I like Hegel. So chat to me about that stuff if you are so inclined. But you want to just chill and have homework help? That's quite all right, too!

I have been in the academic world for a very long time and at this point in my life I'd like to help other students achieve the same goals. I can tutor you in English, SAT verbal, and essay writing. I am also very knowledgeable about admission processes for graduate school, especially pharmacy. I like to teach, to explain, and to tutor students. I have plenty of tutoring experience; I have taught for Kumon Learning Center and for the AmeriCorps. But most of all, I know how hard it is being a student, because I am one! I love learning and I consider it a gift to learn something new everyday. So let me teach you something new!

School takes up anywhere from 30-70% of a student's waking life, and there is no reason anyone should feel subpar or inadequate for that vast amount of time. I completed my undergraduate coursework at the University of California, San Diego, where I graduated cum laude with a major in Literature in English and a minor in General Biology, so whether you're an aspiring engineer struggling with poetry, or a future novelist grappling with coordinate geometry, I'm on your wavelength. In college I was a classroom volunteer tutor for the Preuss Charter School in San Diego, and I've been working for nearly two years now as a professional tutor, and have thorough experience with a range of subjects and standardized test formats. I also write pop culture articles on the side, and aspire to be a college professor of literature; consequently, I most enjoy teaching English and composition, and pride myself on being able to break down essay-writing to its most fundamental, obvious-as-peanuts basics. When I am not saving children from the abyss of school-related anxiety, I indulge in film photography, kung fu movies, and guitar.

I graduated from UNC Charlotte in May of 2015 with a B.S. in Mathematics. I am currently enrolled in Graduate School working on a Master's in Information Technology.I am currently employed as a math tutor at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC where I tutor in courses including k-12 math, pre-calculus, algebra, calculus I and II, and Trigonometry.I have been tutoring in Math since my high school years. I have experience tutoring from elementary math up to college level math. I was employed at UNC Charlotte as a Math tutor and teacher's assistant for over 3 years as well as previous employment as a tutor..What makes me stand out as a tutor is my patience and ability to make students feel comfortable. Patience goes a long way when teaching a frustrated student. Being understanding of a student who is having difficulty picking up a concept, not displaying signs of frustration, and a willingness to repeat an explanation or finding a new way to explain a topic are key elements to being a good tutor. Helping others learn makes me feel as though I am making a small but significant difference.Math has always been my favorite subject! I love learning new concepts and helping others learn as well. I have a strong passion for Math and I believe that, even if it is irrelevant to one's future career, Math is used in daily life and helps to build analytical and critical thinking skills; therefore, I believe Math should be taught and learned by all.

Welcome! My name is Rachel Sanderson-Graff and I am a high school History, English as a New Language (ENL), and AP Psychology teacher in New York City. I received my Master's in Secondary Social Studies and ENL Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, one of the top education programs in the country. Before entering education over 6 years ago, I previously worked in marketing and also spent time working as a private English tutor for both Spanish- and French-speaking families and I volunteered as a literacy tutor at elementary schools. My goal as a teacher and a tutor is to ensure I create an experience that best fits each student's needs and interests. Every person is different, therefore, the way they learn must be different as well. I tailor the education experience to every student I work with in order to best support their academic growth as well as their social-emotional growth. After having worked with a student, I hope I've not only helped them meet the content and skill objectives, but I hope I've instilled a deeper love of learning in them as well.As your potential tutor, I will create an experience that works for you so you meet your goals. I look forward to working with you!

I am a graduate of Hofstra University, where I received a B.A. in English with a concentration in Creative Writing & Literature. I also had minor studies in Spanish and Fine Arts. Additionally, I have received a TEFL/TESOL certification from International TEFL Academy. I enjoy travel and was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to live in Japan for three years while teaching English to children ages 3 to 12 at an after school immersion program. Once I returned home to Massachusetts, I worked at a public elementary school as the 4th grade ESL teacher. Working with kids has always been a lot of fun, and I find it easy to relate to them and see their individual personalities shine. I'm interested in tutoring a variety of English subjects, but I'm most eager to tutor creative writing and essay writing/editing. I feel like my strengths lie in these areas, given my lifelong enthusiasm for writing and literature. Finding the right words to transfer ideas from brain to page can be quite difficult and frustrating, and I'm confident that with my varied experiences editing an array of writing styles, I will be able to assists students in expressing their ideas accurately. In my spare time, I like drawing, reading, writing, and obsessing over my dog.

My mission is to instill a love of learning in students by providing them with the necessary tools to succeed. I have over a decade of experience teaching in the classroom and providing tutoring in a broad range of subjects. In 2005 I graduated from New Saint Andrews College with a B.A. in Liberal Arts in Culture (Summa Cum Laude). Following this, I taught at a small high school for five years, providing instruction in many subjects, including history, literature, Latin, English composition, and SAT prep. Following this, I took a break from classroom teaching (as my husband and I decided to grow our family) and pursued individual tutoring opportunities in English composition and music instruction. I am now in my third year at a small elementary school where I oversee all curriculum and provide instruction in 3rd-6th grade math, Latin, and English composition. When I'm not teaching, I write historical fiction set during the Middle Ages and the British Regency and do copy editing for a small press that my husband and I co-own.
