Biology Tutoring review by Izraelle in Prospect Heights, IL
This week, the student and I began talking about microorganisms, including plasmids. She struggled most with the laboratory techniques of making recombinant plasmids, and we discussed this more in depth. We will be watching a video next week to help us visualize this. We will also be using this video to increase engagement. I will bring study strategies with me next week.

Biology Tutoring review by Vamsi in Prospect Heights, IL
We went over the structure of DNA and RNA, the different types of RNA and their function, transcription, translation, replication, and genetics. While she had the hang of genetics (Punnett squares and complete dominance), she had a bit of trouble on how DNA and RNA function in relation to the cell (where mRNA goes to get translated). She has a test on Friday so we also went over the review guide and a quiz she took last week.

Biology Tutoring review by Ian in Prospect Heights, IL
The student and I were able to review the remainder of the material for her second test. Topics included squares, DNA transcription and translation. She had a really good understanding of base pairs and was able to write the complimentary sequence of both RNA and DNA when given a template strand. Additionally, after a little explanation, she understood the interrelationship between dominant and recessive alleles, could fill out squares correctly, and identify homozygous/heterozygous genotypes. The student is learning the concepts in this unit more efficiently than the last. I was also pleased to see that she had a really good study tool in a fairly comprehensive list of quiz questions that her friend had made to practice for the next couple of days before the exam.
