How can a Biology tutor help you?

Biology may be a tricky area to study. You've got to cover biomes, anatomy, cellular processes, genetics, microbes, and plant basics. And you'll have to do it quickly. Few classes cover as much ground as a biology course. By the time you've learned to keep the biomes straight, your teacher may be moving you on to the organ systems. Lose a step along the way and you may find yourself struggling to keep up. Extrapolate that over a whole term and you could be facing some serious disappointment when the final grades come out. Luckily, individualized biology tutoring in Kansas City, MO, might help you excel in your course.

If you're experiencing frustration in your biology class, or if you just want to make sure that you're doing the best you may, why not prepare for your course with an expert biology tutor in Kansas City, MO? You'll get knowledgeable instruction delivered more flexibly than you would have thought possible. The pace of your sessions may be entirely up to you, with no limits on the number of questions you may ask or the amount of time you may spend on a section. If you're not quite sure where to begin, your tutor may even assess what you know and highlight the areas that need work.

Biology Tutoring review by Melissa in Kansas City, MO
The student has a group project due next week on Fish. We went over the portions of the project that she needs to complete which were the general description of a fish, what characteristics fish have that classify them in the kingdom Animalia and phylum Chordata, structure and anatomy of a fish and then living location and population. We also spent a little bit of time finishing the word problems that she was given to prepare for test.

Biology Tutoring review by Chelsea in Kansas City, MO
The student and I continued working through Chapter 4 today. We quickly reviewed how there are modes of inheritance that do not follow Mendel's principles of dominance and recessiveness. Then we discussed how other modes lead to alterations of the classic 9:3:3:1 ratios when looking at a dihybrid cross. We discussed epigenesis and how one trait can be controlled by multiple genes. We looked at examples of recessive epistasis, dominant epistasis, and complementary genes. We showed how two genes controlling one trait also result in modifications of the 9:3:3:1 Mendelian ratios. We contrasted this concept with pleiotropy, wherein one gene controls many traits. Finally, we looked at x-linked modes of inheritance.

We began reviewing for the student's exam, which is next Tuesday. I quizzed her on all of the animal diversity that we have covered using her flashcards. We came up with ways to remember difficult Latin names. She knows the organismal hierarchy fairly well, but will need to spend time reviewing spelling and names.

We spent our session reviewing DNA transcription and translation in detail. The student is bright and inquisitive and asked many great questions about the mechanics of these actions. I prepared for the session by researching educational videos demonstrating these processes as I believe it's easier to fully grasp a concept when you can see it in great detail.

Biology Tutoring review by Mike in Kansas City, MO
The student worked to review and understand material that was relevant for the upcoming final exam. We spent a good deal of time on the early units, including Mendel, population genetics, and meiosis. We focused on the larger concepts of how the materials is interrelated in terms of why we focus on inheritance and gamete development within the context of natural selection and population genetics. The student proposed spending time with re-learning some of the vocabulary over the upcoming weekend.
