About Me

I am a graduate of Virginia Tech, and majored in biology with a chemistry minor. I have a Master's degree in Biology, and 4 years of PhD completed in microbial ecology. My graduate work focused on microbiology & ecology, and I have a passion for teaching and science! Currently, I am a high school science teacher with 8 years of experience teaching high school and college courses. I tutor high school to graduate-level sciences, and am also experienced in tutoring AP courses. I have an easygoing, nonjudgmental, and inclusive style, consistently earning excellent teaching evaluations from students. My teaching philosophy is "less lecture, more conversation"! I clarify difficult concepts into understandable and cohesive lessons and take pride in personalizing lessons to each unique learning style. I pride in my ability to facilitate thoughtful discussion, taking time to prepare before each session, and exchanging class materials with students.
