I believe a solid education is fundamental for children to succeed in life. Working as a tutor allows me to be an active part of helping kids get ahead in life. I personally believe this goal is significant not only for their future, but for that of our whole society. Education allows one to appreciate and understand a variety of cultures, ideas, and events. For more than eight years I have worked as a tutor, working with students of all grades K-12, and have worked with students of all stripes, including several with autism and dyslexia.

I understand what it feels like to not understand a subject, as I have been in the situation many times myself. I find that the best way to grasp a difficult concept is to approach it from different angles. Everyone learns differently, and my goal is to find the best way to teach that resonates with your specific learning style.I have been tutoring for nearly five years now, starting in my Sophomore Year of high school. Ever since then I have constantly been tutoring in my spare time, primarily through school organizations such as National Honor Society in high school and One With NYU in college. I have tutored a wide range of subjects, including, but not limited to, algebra, trigonometry, physical sciences, SAT prep, and ACT prep. I am very comfortable tutoring any subject that is listed on my profile. The feeling of learning something new is great, but the feeling of teaching it to someone is equally rewarding!

I am a current undergraduate student at the City University of New York Baruch College and am working towards a Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science with a focus in Economics and Communication. I am an honors student and will also be receiving a secondary degree from the Macaulay Honors College. I have tutored several middle and high school students in Algebra, Calculus, Economics, and SAT Preparation. Many of my students have gone on to do well on the New York State Regents Exams, AP Exams, and SAT and ACT Exams. I am most passionate and enthusiastic about teaching Math because I love how organized and formulaic it is. I have always loved tutoring students because I enjoy seeing them improve in subjects they have previously struggled with.I understand that each student has their own strengths and weaknesses and that some subjects may not be for everyone. This being said, I admit that I used to dislike Math a great deal but I was fortunate to have excellent Math teachers who inspired me and instilled my passion for Math. It is my hope that I can inspire my students in the same way I have been inspired. I would describe my tutoring method as very patient and organized. I always try to understand what the student's strengths and weaknesses are and then go from there. I explain each step carefully and then allow the student to eventually try more difficult topics on their own once I have helped them understand the concepts they need to know. I encourage a great deal of practice and organization to help clarify any problem areas the student might have.Other than academia, I enjoy reading, playing sports, and exercising. I have been an avid reader since I was very young and always try to read as much as I can because it is relaxing, enjoyable, and beneficial. I try to stay active with sports and exercise because it helps relieve stress and is also very fun. I enjoy competing in sports, especially with friends, particularly in basketball and football.

I am a student at the Honors College of Rutgers - New Brunswick. I am currently working towards attaining a B.S. in Biochemistry, as well as a minor in Business and Administration. Over the last five years, I have reconciled my passion for teaching and my desire to interact with fellow students through tutoring. While I have tutored in a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about science, math, and English. Having taught many students, each of whom were different in terms of personality and learning style, I understand the importance of tailoring the lesson to the student's strengths. As a result, I work to create unique, individualized learning plans that engage the student and make learning feel like an opportunity, rather than a chore.
