I have been a math teacher for 3 years, and I am currently in the process of a career change. I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics Education from the University of South Florida.

I'm a recent graduate from Boston University with a BA in Linguistics and a double minor in Anthropology and Clinical Speech Therapy. During my sophomore year of college, I made the decision to get on track to pursue speech therapy as my career out of my love of mentoring and fascination with language. I had my own humble beginnings in South Florida juggling AP tests and marching band at Cypress Bay High School, where I first had the opportunity to learn from and teach my peers subjects ranging from Calculus to English Literature to Jazz Theory. I will be returning to Boston in the Fall to pursue an MS in Speech-Language Pathology at Northeastern University.My teaching philosophy revolves around speaking to students' strengths and building flexible understanding of fundamentals. From grammar to statistics, any subject can be made approachable once a student knows the rules and understands the reasoning behind them. It would be a pleasure to work with you or your child.

Aubrey Roemer was born in Rochester, NY. She received her BFA from Pratt Institute; interning with NYC artists and galleries, and working as Americorps Scholar. She was a journalist for Art Observed, specializing in covering the NYC auction season. Post collegiately, she attended residencies in the USA, Europe, and Asia: at Vermont Studio Center, in England at 42 Acres, and at Kio-a-Thau Sugar Refinery Artist Village in Taiwan. In 2016, she participated in NYU Tisch's The Season Comedia Del'Arte in Florence, Italy, as an Assistant Art Collaborator. Currently, she is working on a project with Wall Therapy in Rochester, NY, before attending Pratt Institute for her MFA.Roemer received grants from Do Your Part & Paddlers For Humanity in 2016, World Connect in 2015, and ARTwerk in 2014. She has exhibited internationally and garnered press for her work. She has spoken at the Parrish Art Museum, in schools, and community centers about her international portrait projects. She is represented by artist Gavery Art and is an affiliate of Artshape Mammoth.Roemer's projects span Nicaragua, Indonesia, and Greece in collaboration with NGO's: La Isla Network addressing the CKDu epidemic, environmental initiatives as the Director of Art and Communications for Oceans Care, and with Desmos and Metadrasi working on refugee relief. Domestically, Roemer teamed up with New York Cares, Unicef, and the Rural and Migrant Ministry, bringing art and education to communities extending from NYC to the Hamptons.

I am a fourth year undergraduate student at The University of Texas at Austin pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering Honors with minors in Computer Science and Business. I have always been passionate about helping others by continuing the chain of mentorship that I received and helping others avoid the same mistakes I once made. Prior to University, I spent my spare time spreading environmental awareness to elementary students, coaching middle school basketball teams, and guiding nascent MathCounts and Science Olympiad programs. Since arriving at UT Austin, I have had the privilege of teaching a classroom of middle schoolers for a semester as part of the UTeach Outreach program. I am most passionate about Math, Computer Science, and the college application process. In my experience helping struggling students prepare their applications for admissions, I have had the most fun reviewing essays and revising resumes. I also enjoy sharing tips and tricks to solving any Standardized Math Test questions! I truly believe education is the key to a better future, and it cannot be taken for granted because of the unequal opportunities that others face. Outside of academia, I enjoy working out, hiking, playing sports with my friends, and showing people new songs!

Growing up in Miami, Florida it was hard to find someone to help me with school, as many people that live there are non-native English speakers. I saw this gap in education in many first-generation American students like myself. Therefore, I took it upon myself to create a mentoring program where I had my first tutoring experience. I had students from elementary to high school and was able to tutor them on various topics, especially science, which is my passion! I was able to discover my own learning style and it allowed me to thrive in medical school. My goal is to help my students learn their own learning style and become independent learners. As a new doctor, teaching is fundamental in our growth as practitioners, as we are always teaching patients about their diseases and management.I am passionate about helping students because I know how it feels when someone tries to teach me something but doesn't take the time to explain it. Memorizing things is easy, however, once you truly understand something, you know it forever.I took this passion with me all the way to medical school and was hand selected by the pathology professor to become the teaching assistant at my medical school. As a teaching assistant, I was able to hold both full-class and one-on-one tutoring sessions. Pathology is notoriously the most difficult class in medical school, so I was honored to be selected as the tutor as the professor selects the two highest performing students in her class. I am looking forward to starting medical residency next year, because as a physician, I will always be a lifelong learner and teacher.Science is my favorite subject to learn and tutor because there is a lot of reasoning involved. People often think that science is solely memorization however this is a misconception. Science is highly organized, and works in systems. Once one understands a specific system or concept that is being studied, it makes the rest of the work so much more fun.Outside of medical school, I love to cook, go for a long bike ride, head to the beach or catch the latest musical (pre-covid of course). I work hard in my studies but always make some time for friends, family and myself. I'm looking forward to getting to know you as a student and your learning style to meet your academic goals!

I completed my undergraduate education in three years at Georgetown University in Washington, DC where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service. I then attended Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where I was part of the Partners in Los Angeles Education (PLACE) Corps. There I earned my Master of Arts in Secondary Education and my California Single Subject Clear Credential with an authorization in social science. I am currently in the process of adding an English authorization to my credential. I will return to Loyola Marymount to work on a second Master's degree in the Fall.I have been in the classroom for almost four years teaching social studies, religion, and English to grades 5 - 12. I have experience at both the high school and middle school levels. I also was previously a coach for the Catholic School's Junior High Academic Decathlon for multiple subjects. I regularly hold tutoring for my students have much experience tutoring a variety of subjects at the middle school level.I am in education because it is a constantly changing field where one can always work on improving one's teaching.
