I major in Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University and have a minor in English. I plan on attending medical school and becoming a clinical psychiatrist. I have tutored for 4 years now, starting with age groups 4-10 and later on began to teach high school and middle school students, helping them prepare for AP subjects and SAT/ACT testing. My strong suit is in English ( Literature, Grammar, Writing, and especially SAT/ACT English and Grammar sections, and SSAT middle level and upper-level testing), I am a self-published author myself and believe that language is the backbone of education. Students that struggle with English simply need the proper guidance that our school systems tend to lack when it comes to this subject, especially in writing. Creative writing is something that brings pure enjoyment to me and I believe it really allows young people to expand their thinking in ways they aren't challenged to in everyday situations. I work with every student and find ways to expand on their skill-sets, specializing in my teaching style for each individual. I am also a pre-med student so I have ample experience in sciences and social sciences such as Chemistry, Biology, and Psychology. Teaching any age group is a rewarding experience in itself, giving students confidence and allowing them to unlock their potential is what makes this profession as rewarding as it is.

Cynthia
ACT Writing Tutor • +32 Subjects
Hello! My name is Cynthia and I am a current sophomore at Vanderbilt University! I am double majoring in Public Policy and Human & Organizational Development with a minor in Spanish. I first started tutoring in high school, when I started working at Kumon Learning Center and began teaching elementary and middle school students reading and mathematics. I also volunteered my tutoring services through my high school's National Merit Society, through which I helped my peers in advanced subjects such as AP testing, ACT, SAT, and PSAT prep.My favorite thing about tutoring is the personalized aspect of it. Students get a chance to sit down one on one with a tutor and ask them specific questions about areas that they struggle in, and the tutor has the opportunity to personalize the lessons to best suit the student. I believe in tailoring teaching methods to align with the student's learning style and passions so that he/she has the best educational experience possible. When I'm not studying or working, I enjoy playing piano, reading, making chocolate chip cookies, or rewatching Friends on Netflix for the 17th time. I strive to be the most effective tutor possible, so please feel free to contact me with any suggestions or concerns!

I'm currently a senior at New York University. I originally started college as a pre-medical student, but then switched to a Psychology major, with a Biology and Chemistry double minor after I decided Medical school just wasn't for me. My plan for he future is still undecided, however I'm leaning towards pursuing a higher degree in Genetics. I loved school when I was growing up, and science and math classes were my favorite subjects because they made the most sense to me, but I understand that they can become very challenging very fast.My past tutoring experience involved mostly mathematics tutoring in subjects such as geometry and algebra, but I feel just as confident in my knowledge about the science courses to be equally helpful. As a tutor, I like to get to the core of the problem that my students are having with their respective subjects. I am a firm believer in going back to the very basics and building a strong foundation to build upon as the material becomes more difficult.I try to keep a light-hearted environment when I tutor mostly because of my personality, but also because I've realized that being in a very low stress environment is very conducive to learning.Let me help you achieve the grades you want, and hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I do!

I am a graduate of Yale University with a B.A. in Literature, including studies in modern fiction, comparative literature and communications. My professional sales and marketing background includes several decades in industries ranging from retail and hospitality to TV programming and distribution. Years of management experience taught me the importance of teaching, practice, sound strategy and motivation to improve any performance. I also have an advanced math aptitude that I put to use in business analysis, problem-solving (for fun!) and tutoring middle- and high-school students. I have tutored all subjects and strategies for ACT and SAT test prep. I am also the parent of teenagers (boy and girl), who have helped me understand the value of patience and encouragement when tackling high school studies and tests. My personal interests include sports, movies, music and technology.

I'm a graduate of Dallas Baptist University where I got my Bachelors of Science in Sports Management in 2012 and I have recently gone back to DBU to pursue my Masters as well. Since 2012, I have been tutoring students in Garland ISD from seventh graders to seniors in the AVID program, where we use the Socratic Method to tutor. I normally tutor math and science subjects but my favorite subject to tutor is geometry. To me, geometry is exciting and so much fun which I hope to transfer that same excitement to my all students about math. Outside of tutoring students, I am always on the volleyball court. Whether I am coaching or playing, that is where I love to be.
