I've had a variety of teaching experiences including teaching middle school reading and writing, all subjects for 1st and 2nd grade, supporting students with an ELL background from grades 3-8, and teaching an English language class to adults. I am currently an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher in Chicago, and have been teaching English for over five years. My career began in Hamburg, Germany, where I earned my CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). There, I taught Business English to adults, as well as school English to students in grades four through ten. I love meeting new people and learning about new cultures; teaching English has given me the chance to work with learners from all over the world and at every level of English.I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2009 and double-majored in Theatre & Drama and German. I studied abroad in Bonn, Germany, and then lived in Hamburg for four years. While in Germany, I was certified German Level C1 from the Goethe Institut. Language learning has always been a passion of mine, along with traveling and broadening my horizons. In my free time, I take improv classes at Second City, am involved in musical comedy improv groups, play board games with my friends, and enjoy tennis and volleyball.

My name is Brianna Scott. I am a Master's-level educator who is passionate about providing equity in access to education through e-learning and innovative curriculum design. I am experienced in working with diverse learners in a multitude of settings. Although, I am specifically interested in exploring the integration of online learning and culturally relevant practices. I fundamentally believe that every person can learn, given the proper support and adequate time. My ultimate goal is to use the internet to provide all learners with access to that needed support. I am agraduate of the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in History (minor in French) and Masters degree in the History of Art and Architecture from Boston University.I have worked with students of varying backgrounds, abilities, and goals since 2013, having first started with Americorps' College Possible (College Access Program) and then working for several tutoring organizations, focusing on both test prep and academics.Through these experiences, I have found it most rewarding to help each student realize his or her goal and aid them in accomplishing it with distinction. I enjoy determining the unique approach necessary for each student to succeed.Furthermore, I am passionate about not only teaching my students the material necessary to improve their scores on standardized tests and their grades in their classes, but also keeping them engaged as they progress through any test prep/academic programs.As someone who has been working with high schoolers since college, I find that I am able to connect with students on the important process of excelling both in school and on standardized tests such as the ACT, SAT, PSAT, SSAT, ISEE, and the AP/SAT Subject Test exams. Though these provide schools with a glimpse into the student, I want to help them put their best foot forward.In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with my wife and friends, exploring and relaxing at the nearby beaches, learninghistorical trivia, cooking, and exercise.

I have 16 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I can explain math concepts in various different ways in order to help each unique student succeed.

I am a former middle school math teacher who is now pursuing a different career. I have a degree in secondary mathematics from the University of Kansas and am looking to stay up to date with my teaching/tutoring skills just in case a trip back to the classroom is in my future. I also coached cross country, volleyball, basketball, and track during my tenure.

I have lived all over the country and just moved back to Michigan after four years away. It’s great to be back, especially in time for the fall! I graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in sociology in 2006 and again with an MSW (Masters in Social Work) in 2011; Go Blue! I am a social worker with over 10 years of nonprofit experience working with children and youth. I specialize in art and education programming and have worked with kids of all ages in a number of roles: tutor, mentor, nanny, assistant teacher, camp counselor, and program manager. My most recent position was as a Teacher Caregiver for a family in Chicagoland. Among my responsibilities, I provided daily homework help and academic tutoring for three kids ages 5, 9, and 11. Before that, I ran a tutoring and homework help after school program in Seattle for Somali refugees.Now that I’m back in Michigan I’m looking for individual students to tutor in a range of subjects. I’m comfortable with elementary and middle school math, language arts, study and organizational skills, Spanish, general homework help, and ISEE and SSAT prep. I’m also comfortable with ELL/ESL tutoring for all ages and some high school language arts and elective subjects (e.g. psychology). Please inquire for more details.
