I tutor the LSAT because I know it's a hard test and I know what it's like to struggle with it. However I also understand the process necessary to produce better scores, and nothing is more satisfying to me than helping someone achieve what seemed impossible a few months ago.

Learning is a habit. I grew up hearing that daily and it gradually sunk in as I progressed in school. I always enjoyed figuring out how things worked and why things happened, as my curiosity knew no bounds. As I matured, I discovered how to channel this curiosity into more productive avenues by working in study groups, helping friends answer their own questions which were usually quite similar this mine, This helped develop my confidence in teaching others through college, summer camps and medical school. I love working with different age groups as they all bring unique learning opportunities. My degrees have given me the skills to cover a wide range of subjects in the sciences and medicine, and to value each person I come across. My aim is to give my students a personalised learning experience composed of great learning opportunities and experiences so they can stay engaged, motivated and prepared for not just their classes but for life in general. Mentoring students as they learn is also crucial to the mental aspect of their growth. I also ensure that clear, practical objectives are given so students can stay focused on tasks and are able to take responsibility for their own future. In addition to this, I use different learning styles visual, verbal, discussions and review sessions as students have different learning styles. Teaching really is a privilege.

I graduated from Wheaton College with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy as well as a minor in Bible/Theology. Since graduation, I have been teaching English overseas in South Korea and the nation of Georgia. In those roles, I was especially proud of the improvements my students made towards clear self-expression in speaking and writing (which was reflected in high TOEFL scores). I've got a knack for identifying an essay's strengths and weaknesses, and for giving specific feedback to make written ideas come to life. In addition, I have a passion for helping students improve their performance in ACT Reading, Writing, and Science. Whatever the subject, I thrive on leading students to moments of clarity and a sense of accomplishment. When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy exploring nature, playing strategy board games, and reading non-fiction.

I recently obtained my Bachelor's of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. Shortly after graduation, I accepted a year-long tutoring job with a high school Senior at a preparatory school in Albuquerque. I provided this student with regular instruction in International Baccalaureate level Biology, which is a rigorous curriculum similar to that of the more commonly known Advanced Placement curriculum.Around the same time, I also worked as a long term Substitute Teacher for Albuquerque Public Schools. During this time, I came to appreciate a wide array of learning styles and teaching techniques. Part of what makes me an excellent Tutor is my understanding of the fact that every student learns differently and that one must be patient while determining the best way to help a struggling student understand a difficult concept. While I am most passionate about Biology, I also tutor Middle School Math and Algebra. I hope to add more subjects as the school year progresses because I love helping students learn, regardless of the topic. In my spare time, I enjoy playing strategic online and console based games. I spend most of my time researching and staying well informed about world news and politics.

I am a graduate of the University at Buffalo with a B.A. in History, and Canisius College with a MSEd in Adolescents Education. I am dual certified in Social Studies 7-12; Students with Disabilities 7-12, and have been in teaching for the past 7 years. I have taught middle school social studies, grades 6-8, and am currently teaching high school ICT classes. The courses that I have co-taught in include Algebra, Geometry, Biology, Earth Science, US History, World History, Economics, and 9th-12th grade ELA. I have tutored students at the college level in Physics, Cell Biology, Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, Psychology, European History, Medieval History, Calculus, Statistics, Creative Writing, American Literature, and Literacy. Furthermore, I have experience working with local school districts providing home instruction to students who were not able to attend school in person. Students I have worked with have shown evidence of learning through formal and informal assessments, and have been successful in passing courses with high marks. Although the students I work with have been successful, that is no guarantee of success. It is important that all the students I work with understand that if they are dedicated and willing to do the work, the chances for success improve greatly. I look forward to working with you all.

Hi! I am a student at the University of Wisconsin Madison pursuing a degree in biochemistry. In 2014 I graduated from high school in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota with a 4.0 GPA and a 33 on my ACT. In my free time I play basketball, listen to music, write programs, and watch movies with my friends. I specialize in math and science of all kinds, I really love teaching biology, chemistry, and physics. I also can prepare students for the ACT. As a sophomore I have already taken physics, calculus, biology, intro chemistry, and organic chemistry. I believe I am able to break down very complex ideas to make any subject much easier to learn. I am available for tutoring in person and online. Thanks for reading, I hope I am the way to get you a better grade with a lot less effort!

I am currently an undergraduate at UGA studying Computer Science. Starting from my sophomore year in high school, I have had many opportunities to work closely with children of all ages, most notably with middle schoolers and early high schoolers. I am a strong believer in teaching what the student desires to know and will work together with my students to figure out what is the best for their own lives. There is nothing more exciting to me than witnessing the moment an abstract concept becomes an understandable part of reality in the eyes of a child.

I attended Hamilton College where I studied Biology and Government and graduated in 2012. While in college I sang in both the college choir and an all-female a cappella group. I also had the opportunity to study abroad in Tanzania where I designed and conducted an independent study project. After graduating, I moved back to the Boston area and I am currently a student at Suffolk University Law School.I have had the privilege of working with students in both academic and non-academic settings. I was a tutor for second grade students while in college and watched my students grow into confident individuals with increased reading skills. I also worked as a sailing instructor for several years at a junior sailing club where I taught introductory racing, basic navigation, and basic sailing to kids ages 8-14.I strongly believe that all students have the ability to succeed in school with hard work and dedication. Much of that capacity for success comes from students believing in themselves, and I hope to encourage students to be confident in their ability to succeed in the classroom and in life. I have a passion and enthusiasm for learning that I want to share with others. By strengthening academic development, students can also strengthen personal development and I hope to use my experiences to help students be successful and reach their goals.

I earned a Bachelor's degree in math and economics with minors in statistics and Middle Eastern studies from St Olaf College in 2018. While in college I worked as an economics teaching assistant and informally helped other students prepare for the math section of the GRE. Additionally, I have volunteer experience as an algebra II tutor and a competition math team coach. I've always enjoyed taking standardized tests, and aim to help others see these tests as a fun challenge. After college I worked for a healthcare IT company and I'm fluent in R, Python, SQL, and M (MUMPS). This September I will be pursuing a Master's degree in data science. I'm available to tutor GRE, ACT, and SAT math as well as other math, statistics, and economics subjects. Although I am most passionate about math, I'm also happy to help students with general testing strategies and preparation for the other parts of the standardized exams.

Lead by example is my teaching philosophy. If you expect your students to be punctual, you must show up on time. If you expect your students to exhibit a positive attitude, you must bring your best energy everyday. If you expect your students to work hard, you must work even harder. It is important to set clear expectations from the first day of class whether regarding attendance, attitude, participation, grading, or culture. I am a very warm, encouraging, energetic teacher. Learning is a balance between structure and having fun. I make sure to set a leadership role from the very beginning. I love to laugh, joke, and smile with my students while making sure they understand the purpose of the class is to learn, evolve, and expand their minds and horizons. I encourage them to ask important questions and to never be afraid. It is OK to make mistakes. I do not demand perfection: I ask for evolution. Students will work harder if they realize why they are in the class. It is the teachers responsibility to remind them. For instance, what is the greater goal? What do they hope to achieve? How can we make the present moments count towards a larger vision? The test is just a piece of paper unless they realize it means a lot more in terms of setting the standard for discipline, creativity, measuring their progress, and work ethic.

Frequently Asked Questions
The ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) Exam is an internationally recognized music qualification system. It assesses performance, music theory, and aural skills across multiple instruments and voice. The exam structure includes Grades 1-8, with each level building on foundational skills. Grades 1-5 focus on developing core musicianship, while Grades 6-8 represent advanced proficiency. Students typically progress through one grade per year, though timelines vary based on practice frequency and prior experience. Each grade requires learning specific repertoire, technical studies, and music theory knowledge relevant to that level.
Most students prepare for 3-6 months for a single ABRSM Exam grade, depending on their starting level and practice commitment. Students preparing for Grades 1-3 may progress faster, while Grades 5-8 typically require longer preparation as technical demands and repertoire complexity increase. Consistent practice—ideally 30-60 minutes daily for younger students and 1-2 hours for advanced levels—significantly impacts readiness. Personalized tutoring can help identify areas needing extra focus and optimize your preparation timeline, ensuring you're ready to demonstrate mastery across all three components: practical performance, music theory, and aural skills.
ABRSM Exams assess three interconnected areas:
- Practical Performance: Playing three set pieces and technical work (scales, arpeggios) on your chosen instrument or voice
- Music Theory: Written exam testing knowledge of notation, harmony, form, and musical terminology (required for Grade 5 and above)
- Aural Skills: Listening and responding to musical excerpts, melodic dictation, and rhythm exercises
Students often struggle with:
- Balancing performance practice with theory and aural work: Many focus heavily on playing pieces but neglect the written and listening components, leaving them under-prepared
- Sight-reading accuracy: Reading unfamiliar music fluently under exam conditions requires consistent, targeted practice
- Aural recognition: Identifying intervals, chord progressions, and musical features by ear doesn't develop naturally from performance practice alone
- Performance anxiety: Playing set pieces with technical accuracy and musical expression on exam day differs significantly from casual practice
Expert tutors employ several evidence-based approaches: breaking repertoire into manageable technical sections, using deliberate practice to target weak passages, developing sight-reading fluency through varied materials, building aural skills through systematic ear training exercises, and teaching test-taking strategies specific to the exam format. They also help students manage performance anxiety by simulating exam conditions during practice sessions and building confidence through incremental success. A tutor who understands the ABRSM syllabus for your specific grade level can align practice routines with exam requirements and identify exactly which areas need the most attention before your test date.
ABRSM Exams use marks out of 150 per component, with pass (100+), merit (120+), and distinction (130+) as achievement levels. Students who work consistently with tutors focused on identified weak areas typically see significant improvements, though progress depends on starting level, practice frequency, and motivation. A student struggling with aural skills might gain 15-25 marks through targeted ear training over 2-3 months. Someone with solid performance but weak theory preparation might improve 20-30 marks in that component with focused study. The biggest gains come from addressing the component holding you back most—tutors help pinpoint exactly where you're losing points and create an efficient plan to improve your overall result.
ABRSM typically recommends sequential progression through grades to build solid musical foundations. However, students with strong prior training or natural aptitude can sometimes accelerate progression with skilled instruction. Tutors can assess whether you're genuinely ready to advance or if rushing would undermine your technical foundation and aural development. Accelerating isn't always beneficial—progressing to Grade 5 before mastering Grade 4 theory requirements, for example, creates larger gaps that become harder to close. The most effective approach focuses on demonstrating mastery at your current level first, then confidently advancing. A tutor experienced with ABRSM can help you determine the right pace for sustainable progress and genuine skill development.
