I am a secondary education teacher with a certification in Biology and Chemistry. I also completed my Masters in the Arts of Teaching degree at Wayne State University. I have a great passion for teaching and motivating students of all abilities to help them succeed in school and reach their full potential.

I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Administration with an emphasis in nonprofit management at Oakland University, and I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University. I chose an undergraduate major in English and minors in Editing and in Spanish. While at BYU, I was very involved with the Writing Fellows program which gave me the opportunity to be a specialized writing tutor for several years. I worked one-on-one with my fellow undergraduates to help improve them their writing in a variety of courses including humanities, religion, recreation management, and English. I also helped tutor new writing tutors as they came into the program through my position as a teaching assistant. I love to empower hesitant writers to come up with their own ideas and write using their own words. Helping students with reading comprehension and literature is also my favorite. When I am not reading, writing, and tutoring, you can find me outside hiking, practicing yoga, or navigating through whitewater rapids, most recently with my new husband.
I am a lifelong learner, teacher, and researcher in the field of physics. I received a PhD in Physics from the University of Michigan and a BS in Physics from Rice University. I have four years of physics teaching experience at the University of Michigan, primarily undergraduate laboratory courses with an emphasis on electromagnetism, circuits, waves, optics, and real-world applications of these and other physical phenomena. Many of these courses, including one I helped design, focused on helping non-STEM students master physics concepts that may be difficult to grasp in a standard classroom setting. I have tutored in a variety of subjects since high school, but most recently I have spent several years helping students understand concepts and succeed in coursework throughout a large variety of college-level physics topics, from basic mechanics to advanced electrodynamics and special relativity.
I am passionate about children's education and excited to help students learn!
I am a PhD student at the University of Michigan, studying social psychology. Before this, I was at Duke University completing a BS in psychology as well as a MS in global health. My research combines the fields of global health and psychology by examining the effects of culture on self-related psychological processes. I hope to continue in academia to become a professor of psychology, as teaching is among my greatest passions.
I am a current sophomore at Yale University, studying Environmental Engineering and Global Affairs. I spent four years tutoring K-12 students in reading and math, and I believe in the importance of appreciating the process of learning and mastering concepts.
I am a senior at Yale University studying English. I have 5+ years experience tutoring high school/middle school students in writing, college essay editing, Common App advising, AP English, and ACT! My students have earned acceptances to Brown, Duke, Cornell, Vanderbilt, and the University of Michigan.
I am currently working towards my MD/PhD degree at Michigan Medical School.
I am a former high school STEM teacher with a passion for teaching, certified in Secondary Math and Biology. I LOVE math and science, and what they tell us about the world. As a teacher in Detroit, I've worked with students of all ability levels and learning styles, so I have a lot of strategies in my tool belt for tackling difficult concepts. My style as a tutor is to be patient, positive and encouraging. I tend to develop strong relationships with students as a mentor.
I am a graduate of The University of Michigan and The University of Pennsylvania (The Wharton School). I received my undergraduate degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering with a minor in history. Also, I recently graduated with an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania (The Wharton School).
I am really excited to become a tutor at Varsity Tutors. Currently, I am retired from a career in accounting. I have a master degree in accounting from University of Texas (Arlington), a master degree in education from Harvard University and a Bachelor degree in Psychology from National Taiwan University. I was born and raised in Taiwan but have lived in the U.S. for almost 34 years.
I am committed to helping students acquire skills necessary for life-long learning. I prize education as an occasion for student development, discussion, and the refinement of communicative and analytical skills. I enjoy my role as a tutor and I anticipate increasing fulfillment as the scope and depth of my skills are expanded and refined.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Dearborn is home to 7 school districts serving over 22,500 students across 48 schools, and Varsity Tutors connects with students from all of them. Whether your student attends Dearborn Public Schools, Fordson High School, or any other district in the area, personalized tutoring can be customized to align with your school's specific curriculum and academic expectations.
The first session is an opportunity for a tutor to understand your student's current level, learning style, and specific academic goals—whether that's improving grades in a Michigan-aligned curriculum, preparing for standardized tests, or building confidence in a particular subject. Tutors use this time to create a personalized plan that addresses your student's unique needs and sets clear expectations for progress.
Tutors are familiar with Michigan's educational standards and can help students master grade-level content while building the critical thinking and problem-solving skills emphasized in state assessments. Personalized 1-on-1 instruction allows tutors to target specific gaps in understanding and reinforce concepts in ways that work best for each student's learning style.
Even with reasonable class sizes, individual students can struggle with pacing, learning style mismatches, or specific skill gaps that classroom instruction alone may not address. Personalized tutoring provides focused, one-on-one attention that complements classroom learning and helps students catch up quickly or accelerate ahead—something that's difficult to achieve in a group setting.
Dearborn students seek tutoring support across a wide range of subjects, including math, science, English language arts, and test preparation for the SAT and ACT. Tutors also help students with subject-specific challenges like algebra, geometry, chemistry, and writing skills—as well as support for English language learners, which is particularly relevant in Dearborn's diverse community.
Varsity Tutors offers flexible tutoring options to fit different budgets and schedules. Pricing varies based on the subject, tutor expertise, and frequency of sessions. We recommend discussing your specific needs and budget when connecting with a tutor, as many can work with families to create a plan that provides meaningful support without breaking the bank.
Progress looks different for each student—it might be improved test scores, better grades on assignments, increased confidence, or mastery of specific skills. Most tutors track progress through regular check-ins, assignment reviews, and communication with parents. After a few sessions, you should notice concrete improvements in your student's understanding or performance in the areas being addressed.
Varsity Tutors connects students with tutors who have subject expertise and proven teaching ability. Tutors bring a range of backgrounds—including teaching experience, advanced degrees, and real-world knowledge in their fields. Each tutor is selected based on their ability to teach effectively and adapt to individual student needs, ensuring quality personalized instruction.
