I am a lifelong learner, teacher, and researcher in the field of physics. I received a PhD in Physics from the University of Michigan and a BS in Physics from Rice University. I have four years of physics teaching experience at the University of Michigan, primarily undergraduate laboratory courses with an emphasis on electromagnetism, circuits, waves, optics, and real-world applications of these and other physical phenomena. Many of these courses, including one I helped design, focused on helping non-STEM students master physics concepts that may be difficult to grasp in a standard classroom setting. I have tutored in a variety of subjects since high school, but most recently I have spent several years helping students understand concepts and succeed in coursework throughout a large variety of college-level physics topics, from basic mechanics to advanced electrodynamics and special relativity.

I am passionate about children's education and excited to help students learn!
I am a PhD student at the University of Michigan, studying social psychology. Before this, I was at Duke University completing a BS in psychology as well as a MS in global health. My research combines the fields of global health and psychology by examining the effects of culture on self-related psychological processes. I hope to continue in academia to become a professor of psychology, as teaching is among my greatest passions.
I am a current sophomore at Yale University, studying Environmental Engineering and Global Affairs. I spent four years tutoring K-12 students in reading and math, and I believe in the importance of appreciating the process of learning and mastering concepts.
I am a senior at Yale University studying English. I have 5+ years experience tutoring high school/middle school students in writing, college essay editing, Common App advising, AP English, and ACT! My students have earned acceptances to Brown, Duke, Cornell, Vanderbilt, and the University of Michigan.
I am a secondary education teacher with a certification in Biology and Chemistry. I also completed my Masters in the Arts of Teaching degree at Wayne State University. I have a great passion for teaching and motivating students of all abilities to help them succeed in school and reach their full potential.
I am currently working towards my MD/PhD degree at Michigan Medical School.
I am a former high school STEM teacher with a passion for teaching, certified in Secondary Math and Biology. I LOVE math and science, and what they tell us about the world. As a teacher in Detroit, I've worked with students of all ability levels and learning styles, so I have a lot of strategies in my tool belt for tackling difficult concepts. My style as a tutor is to be patient, positive and encouraging. I tend to develop strong relationships with students as a mentor.
I am a graduate of The University of Michigan and The University of Pennsylvania (The Wharton School). I received my undergraduate degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering with a minor in history. Also, I recently graduated with an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania (The Wharton School).
I am really excited to become a tutor at Varsity Tutors. Currently, I am retired from a career in accounting. I have a master degree in accounting from University of Texas (Arlington), a master degree in education from Harvard University and a Bachelor degree in Psychology from National Taiwan University. I was born and raised in Taiwan but have lived in the U.S. for almost 34 years.
I am committed to helping students acquire skills necessary for life-long learning. I prize education as an occasion for student development, discussion, and the refinement of communicative and analytical skills. I enjoy my role as a tutor and I anticipate increasing fulfillment as the scope and depth of my skills are expanded and refined.
I am passionate about helping students. I believe that we all are learners and teachers. all of us are readers and writers. I have the ability to share my passion for learning with others, and one of my greatest strengths is building relationships with students which is the corner stone to successful learning and teaching. I believe that there are no bad kids or bad students, it's just that we all have different paths and ways of learning, we all have a different pace. As a teacher i strive to acknowledge that and find ways to support all students, adapting to their needs and paths, meeting them where they are at. It is my job to believe in every single student and help them believe in themselves. When I am not teaching or engaging with students, I like to read, walk, hike, travel, explore, work out, watch my favorite shows. I enjoy playing and watching ice hockey, and I try to go home to visit my family in Italy once a year.

Yes. Flint has 18 school districts serving over 15,700 students across 58 schools, and Varsity Tutors connects students from all of them with personalized 1-on-1 instruction. Whether your student attends a Flint Community Schools building, a charter school, or another district in the area, we can match them with a tutor who understands Michigan's curriculum standards and can support their specific academic goals.
Flint students typically seek help with math, reading comprehension, and test preparation—especially as they work toward Michigan's state assessments and college entrance exams. We also support students in science, writing, and subject-specific courses like algebra, geometry, and biology. Varsity Tutors can connect you with a tutor who specializes in whatever subject your student needs most.
The first session is about understanding your student's current level, learning style, and specific challenges. The tutor will assess where your student stands relative to grade-level expectations and Michigan standards, then create a personalized plan to address gaps and build confidence. This foundation helps ensure every session afterward is targeted and effective.
With an average student-teacher ratio of 18.9:1 in Flint schools, many students don't get the individualized attention they need in the classroom. Personalized 1-on-1 instruction fills that gap by allowing tutors to slow down, repeat concepts, and adjust teaching methods to match your student's pace and learning style—something that's difficult in larger classroom settings.
Varsity Tutors connects students with tutors who are familiar with Michigan's Grade Level Content Expectations and state assessment requirements. Whether your student is preparing for M-STEP, working toward proficiency in core subjects, or getting ready for high school benchmarks, tutors tailor instruction to align with what Flint schools expect and what your student needs to succeed.
Pricing varies based on the tutor's expertise, the subject, and how frequently your student needs help. Varsity Tutors offers flexible options so you can find a plan that fits your budget and schedule. We recommend discussing your specific needs during the initial conversation so we can match you with a tutor and pricing structure that works for your family.
