I received my Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Kentucky with a minor in French. Over the past eight years, I have tutored students in Math and Science courses as young as Middle School all the way through College. While at the University of Kentucky, I led group tutoring as well as provided private tutoring for students through the university. I have also had a number of both Spanish-speaking and English-speaking private clients throughout the state of Kentucky. I am passionate about tutoring because I love watching students reach a level of understanding that they did not have before. I believe that every student learns differently and as a tutor it is my job to navigate material with the student to create spaces for success. In May of 2015 I received a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Psychology from the University of Cincinnati. August of 2017 I received a Master of Science in Medical Science from the University of Kentucky. I currently work doing research on Gaucher Disease. I have been tutoring/teaching in some form for the last 10 years, working with children and adults of all ages. Previously I have spent 4 years as an instructional assistant/assistant band director. During this time I was afforded the opportunity to get to work one on one with many different types of students. I taught a class of 30 middle school students 6 periods of the day where I worked with them on increasing their math and reading skills. After school I would tutor grades 6 through 12 mostly in math and science. I also gave private music lessons after school. I have experience working with special needs students and have worked as a sensory motor coach for children ages 3 to 18 with development and sensory disorders. My favorite subjects to tutor are math and science but I am comfortable tutoring many different subjects. I like being able to see to help the student make connections from the subject material to their own lives. When tutoring I like to make sure the student is involved in the process. I like to ask them questions about the material and to help them draw out and visualize the solution. Every student learns differently and I feel they do better when they can personally relate to the material and find a connection to their own life. In my spare time I enjoy playing music, painting, reading, rock climbing and spending time with my family.

An alumnus of the University of Kentucky, I graduated this past May with a degree in Biology and Business Management, minoring in Economics and International Business, and am headed to medical school in the fall. As a student, both in college and in high school, I have always found enjoyment and fulfillment in being able to share knowledge through the process of tutoring.In college, I worked for a volunteer learning center in the biology department, tutoring other college students in introductory biology, genetics, evolution, and biochemistry, among other biology subjects; in high school, I taught classes for the ACT, with credibility based on my own performance in the exam, to raise donations for a nonprofit. My favorite subject in school has always been science. If there was a class I never wanted to skip, it was always some type of science, and when it came time to choose a college major I already knew I wanted to be a biologist! While learning about all the different aspects of biology, genetics, insects, marine life, and plants were my favorite focus areas. So when I decided to go to grad school it was an easy pick to become an Entomologist! Being any type of scientist requires heavy math, communication, and reading skills, so I have been refining my skills in those areas as I went through college and then grad school.I have also learned how to communicate things in lots of different ways, including sign language (ASL), art (painting and drawing), and presenting online via Zoom. I was hired as a substitute teacher last year as I finished up my degree, so I also learned how to communicate with lots of different aged people! I have used a lot of visual representation in the past, as well as having the student talk through the lesson to see if they could teach me the information.I have been to Belize to study marine biology, farms around the US to study insects, and have "been" many places to present via Zoom!
