- I believe that students are more likely to take an interest in a historical subject if they have some connection to the topic.
About Me
As a history professional, I have always embraced the rules for historians espoused by Pope Leo XIII, who stated: "The first law of history is to dread uttering a falsehood; the next is not to fear stating the truth; lastly, the historian's writings should be open to no suspicion of partiality or animosity." In keeping with those rules, I have encouraged students of history to approach topics with and open mind; to conduct in-depth investigations; to explore from multiple perspectives; and to accept conclusions. Therefore, I have encouraged students to research their own family history and then make connections.
