About Me

My favorite subject in school has always been science. If there was a class I never wanted to skip, it was always some type of science, and when it came time to choose a college major I already knew I wanted to be a biologist! While learning about all the different aspects of biology, genetics, insects, marine life, and plants were my favorite focus areas. So when I decided to go to grad school it was an easy pick to become an Entomologist! Being any type of scientist requires heavy math, communication, and reading skills, so I have been refining my skills in those areas as I went through college and then grad school. I have also learned how to communicate things in lots of different ways, including sign language (ASL), art (painting and drawing), and presenting online via Zoom. I was hired as a substitute teacher last year as I finished up my degree, so I also learned how to communicate with lots of different aged people! As your tutor, I will work with you and your specific personality to best teach you what I can. I have used a lot of visual representation in the past, as well as having the student talk through the lesson to see if they could teach me the information. I have been to Belize to study marine biology, farms around the US to study insects, and have "been" many places to present via Zoom! I love to meet new people and would love to meet you!
