About Me

Education:Hampshire College (Bachelors of Arts)Relay Graduate School of Education (Masters of Teaching Elementary & Exceptional Learners)Harvard Graduate School of Education (Masters of Education Education Leadership & Wellness)I began my career in education after I was accepted into Teach for America (a highly-selective education government program that recruits and trains graduates from elite universities into the teacher workforce). During my service years, I discovered teaching was my superpower and never looked back. Supporting my students at the highest level became my number one priority. When I was a math teacher in middle school/upper elementary, I sought out opportunities to hone my ability to teach literacy when I noticed many of my students struggled to decode word problems. I was trained to administer reading and writing tests to evaluate fluency and comprehension and used that information to guide instruction. I also learned how to support students with IEPs by focusing on neurodiversity in graduate school. Later in my career, I became a history teacher with a focus on developing my student's writing abilities. In the middle of my teaching career, I was recruited to teach other teachers. While I was flattered and excited to be recognized for my talents, one of my major joys in life is being able to teach my students directly. Tutoring is the way I have the best of both worlds. I can continue to write curriculum and coach new educators while still working directly with young people outside the classroom as a tutor. Personally, I've always been very bubbly and curious. I believe that young people benefit most when they are supported by adults, they trust so building trusting relationships with students is a big part of my practice. It's very important to me that young people also gain self-worth/acceptance alongside their schoolwork because a deep-rooted belief in yourself is the foundation of success.
