About Me

I am a tutor with Varsity Tutors. I am passionate about helping students achieve their academic and career goals and help them enjoy school and learning! I went to the University of California Irvine for a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and to Elms College for my Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences. I have been a volunteer test writer, exam proctor, and test grader for the Orange County Science Olympiad for 3 years and have had various tutoring and teaching experiences for the last 7+ years. I have taught monthly science sessions at an elementary and middle school in an underserved area in Long Beach County over a span of 3 years. I have had one-on-one tutoring experience with a middle school student for over 1 year for Math and Science primarily, but also provided support in English, History, and Introductory Spanish. Additionally, I worked with undergraduate students as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Advanced Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory at Elms College for 1 year. I also was a volunteer Microbiology Lab Teaching Assistant at Los Angeles City College for 1 semester. I come from a low-income background and I know what it was like to struggle through classes alone or with no outside help. I am here to provide that resource that I wish I had growing up and I want to empower students through knowledge and academic success. My favorite topics to tutor in are any of the sciences, as the sciences are my favorite subject and also what I have the most expertise and experience in. As a middle and high school student, I was also heavily involved with science programs such as MESA, Science Olympiad, and L.A. County and California State Science Fairs as participants. I would describe my teaching style as fun and engaging as well as informative and helpful. I use a variety of aids to help students approach areas of struggle. Hobbies: writing, cooking, music, painting, art, movies, books, reading
