I am a goals focused instructor, that works to connect the learning content to the students life and interests. I teach writing by modeling form and giving examples and practice. I utilize scaffolding to build upon prior knowledge and help students move to the next task. And I give added practice examples for areas where students are struggling i.e using evidence, analysis, organizationI have a masters in Teaching English as a Second Language (especially adult ESL), and also coursework and teaching experience in Secondary Education (grades 6-12). My endorsements are in English Language Arts and ESL. My bachelors degree was in Creative Writing. I love to teach writing, including essay and academic writing. I speak Spanish and Arabic at intermediate levels. I can read and write in these languages. I also taught GED test prep for 4 years in all content areas including math, science and social studies.
