About Me

I am a mother of three with seven years of public school teaching experience. I hold valid Instructional II teaching certificates in PA for Elementary Ed, Early Childhood, and Reading Specialist. I have a BS in Ed from Shippensburg University and also a M.Ed in Reading from Shippensburg University as well. I have a passion for early literacy and love to help instill a love of reading and learning in students. I love using games to help get content across and my favorite subject to teach is reading and writing. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy reading, serving in children's ministries, and spending time with my family. I also enjoy fitness and working out!

Q&A with Amanda

I believe that all children learn differently using differing modalities and that children are more than just a test score. I teach using many different techniques to address differing learning styles and feel children need to be entertained and engaged to maximize learning potential. I teach using manipulatives and concrete learning tools to help solidify learning and allow students to display knowledge in many ways other than just a test.
