I have been teaching Middle School ELA for the past 4 years both in Chicago and in New Jersey. I love working with students and helping them become the learners I know all students can be. I believe that being successful in school can help students feel accomplish while also opening different paths for their future. I want to tutor students because I believe it will give me an opportunity to continue working with students, but in a smaller setting where I can provide more individualized attention.

I believe the teacher's role is to facilitate the learning by providing expertise in a particular content. Nonetheless I also believe students come with a lot of knowledge of their own, and as teachers we must provide a space for them to feel competent about that knowledge. I also believe all kids should, and are capable of, learning.
