About Me

I am a student at Endicott College and have always had a passion for helping children succeed. I have had experience working with children of many ages, however I prefer to focus mainly on the K-6 age group. I have privately tutored middle school students and have worked hands-on in a classroom of 6-8 year olds. I have experience working with various types of attention and learning disabilities and do not view these as obstacles to learning, but as something that the student must accept and embrace as they go throughout their educational journey. I love helping students succeed and feel passionately about the subject of education. I am pursuing a double major in Digital Journalism and Photography, with a minor in International Studies. I want to become a journalist so that I may educate others about the things that are going on in the world. My favorite topics to tutor include the wonderful subjects of English and Social Studies! My teaching philosophy is relaxed and laid back- I believe that in order to learn, the student must be comfortable with the teacher and that there must be a strong relationship between the two in order for there to be success. I am also a strong proponent to the philosophy of instilling self-confidence in students, and believe strongly in positive reinforcement. I believe in the importance of recognizing the good and positive in each student's work, and working around their strengths, rather than directly attacking the negative qualities of a student's work. Outside of academia, I enjoy playing piano, guitar, and tennis. I also thoroughly enjoy going on runs with my Siberian Husky, Stella.
